After the publication of Civil War #7, Mark Millar was interviewed by Newsarama and described the event as "a story where a guy wrapped in the American flag is in chains as the people swap freedom for security", agreeing that a "certain amount of political allegory" was present but that the real focus of the book was on superheroes fighting each other.

The "character" of Captain America is dead.

He is one of the longest running Marvel characters with their own monthly comic book since the 1960's.

There will be no more monthly comic books in the name of Captain America.

In the "Marvel universe" he has been killed off, dead, R.I.P.

Marvel very rarely kill off major "hero" characters, but they have indeed killed of Captain America. He is no more.

Glad they kept the mask and the shield.

Bit disappointed with the gun and black pants though, it just looks like the Punisher has nicked the helmet and shield.

Maybe thats his secret identity !, its Frank Castle !

In the Civil War epic, the original cap attacked and beat the crap out of the punisher when he executed some villains who had surrendered, cap beat seven shades of crap out of him and said "Fight back you murdering scum !"

The punisher looked up and said "not you.....I will never fight you".

Could be a clue ? maybe the Punisher has taken it upon himself to become the new cap ?
