The mutant known as Wolverine breaks into his own spin-off film from the successful X-MEN franchise. Hugh Jackman (X1, X2, Van Helsing) returns as Logan/ Wolverine-A mutant with regenerative powers, three claws on each hand and a skeleton all laced with the rare metal known as adamantium. Logan struggles to find the secrets to his past. After learning little information through the help of Charles Xavier (X2's Patrick Stewart), Logan takes his search even further by learning the full truth of his origin, while also heading in a bold, new direction.

Rumor also has it that the director and several producers want to make this rated R.

director is Gavin Hood.  he did deveral Stargate SG-1 episodes.

Wolverine is an intriguing, enigmatic and dangerous character, much like Han Solo, Mad Max, or Dirty Harry. Movie and comic book fans have revered him for decades, clamoring for more stories about this cryptic Canadian mutant with adamantium claws and an uncanny ability to heal wounds almost instantly. The X-Men movies gave us just a small taste of how good Wolverine could be on the big screen

However, because they were ensemble stories, the X-Men movies could only address Wolverine’s mysterious background in passing.

In the Wolverine movie we will learn aboutLogan's secret history and his participation in top secret government experiments. In the desperate search for his lost memory, he will travel from the Canadian wilderness to the teeming cities of the Asia and beyond

Hugh Jackman has stated that he likes David Benioff’s script so much that he tried to convince Fox to make the Wolverine movie even before X-Men 3, but Fox wanted to complete the trilogy first.

Fox Film Group President Tom Rothman confirms that the movie will be made and that the movie will be a prequel, but says that he’ll get in trouble if he discloses anything beyond that.

I used to love Wolverine.

In the Marvel universe he's 5'4" tall and the difference in height was always played upon in the comics.

Hollywood version though he's Hugh jackman 5'11", can't have a short guy playing a short character apparently, even though its an instrinsic part of that character.

A Wolverine movie would be cool I guess, as long as they set it in the far east, the original Wolverine stand alone comic was generally set in the far east. Although they have changed the character to make it more palatable for popcorn brainacs so much I guess it doesn't matter.    

I wonder it they ever do a Hollywood version of Alpha Flight they will make the character of Puck 6'2" ?
