"Civilized" is open to interpretation beyond the 10,000 year old fixed farming settlements with structures meant to be permanent or long term. I think the people who lived cooperatively in moving villages were also civilized, and that was starting perhaps 50,000 years ago. If art makes civilization, then around 35,000 years ago.  Maybe it started with the manufacture of the Fender Stratocaster with whammy bar in 1954.  Is it tomorrow or just the end of time?

Indeed, "civilization" is a subjective term open to tens of definitions.  Civilization is defined through the narrow lens of the beholder's personal bias and experience.  One man's definition of civilization is another man's definition of anarchy.

Agreed.  God is All-Powerful, therefor all natural mechanisms are of His design.  We are mammals but with the unique faculty to know and love God.  In my opinion, this is what distinguishes us from animals and assigns us the duty of caring for other species.

While some may consider the definition of civilization to be subjective, in fairness I thinking we have to give credit to the Sumerian's as a definite qualifier for civilisation, the question to me is are they indeed the first?

So folks quotes was a mistake meant to hit spellcheck::chuckle::

Ideas that, as you know based on our conversations in the paranormal forum, I don't buy into.  However, if you would like to start a thread here on that subject I would welcome it.:)

Several years ago I decided that I should learn to read cuneiform writing, but decided after a week or two that, given the number of different types of cuneiform and that as a medievalist I would never use it, I gave up.
