she was the niece of Henry Vlll. she had a legitimate claim to england. liz l imprisoned her. liz did not want to execute her, it set a dangerous precedent. so she signed the death warrant and then denied it. mary went to her death in the red robe of martyrs. it took the executioner 3 cuts, it was brutal. when they lifted her head her wig fell off, she was gray.

it's a myth they ever met. they did not. mary's son, james, did rule England after liz died. there are some good books out there about mary, it was a fascinating tale. i particularly liked her affair with bothwell, who supposedly kidnapped and raped her....according to accounts of those who were there, she was a very willing participant. mary was a very tall (for her times) woman, beautiful, and a threat to liz. only because she had a rightful claim to the throne.
