Well while living in The Philippines i was told of one of their national hero's named Jose rizal who died for what he believed in

Here is the story of him from Wikipedia

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jos%C3%A9_Rizal

Very smart and talented man he did many things, from political to writing, he is well known cause he was killed by the Spanish in 1896 for a failed revolt, but he faced death without fear and the Spanish respected him for that, he could of escaped but he faced his trail and death

Many Filipinos look up to him cause he was brave and fearless in the face of death, to them he upheld the values that are still in place today, honor, believing in what you do and never quiting

I had the honor of visiting Rizal Park where his remains are buried , there is an honor guard at the park day and night , they are there all the time, i was very humbled by this visit knowing i was visiting the grave of a hero

it was humbling to see what this great man had done in his life and the ideas that he set down are still in the Filipino culture today
