Fish and chips is the best thing about Britain

Fish and chips is the best thing about Britain, according to a poll.
The dish beat the Queen to No1 in the Top 50, with old-fashioned pubs third and Sunday roasts fourth.

Red phone boxes were fifth followed by Big Ben, cream teas, The Beatles and the British Pound.

Prince Harry was the only other Royal on the chart, at 44. Margaret Thatcher was the only woman apart from the Queen, and the only politician, at number 48.

Manchester United were top in the sporting league (19), with cricket (28) stumping Wimbledon (29).

Andrew Smith of Holiday Inn, which quizzed 7,000 people, said: "This list gives a fascinating insight into what it means to be British."

I think I've been spoiler by halibut fish and chips-- cod just doesn't do it for me any more.

I'm surprised British humor didn't make the list. What would the world be like without Peter Sellers, Marty Feldman, the whole Monty Python crowd, Rowan Atkinson, et al?
