And the GOP responds thusly:

"In a statement released earlier Tuesday, Republican National Committee spokesman Alex Conant said Obama's comments "raise questions about his judgment and his readiness to lead as commander in chief."

Is THAT the best they can think of?? that's pretty low down and stupid, to just jump all over a mistaken place name usage.
Not to mention pretty desperate sounding.

Heh..... they REALLY don't want the Dems to start looking up all the stupid crap that Bush misquoted in eight years, INCLUDING public statements on the meaning and wording of the Constitution ITSELF!

Bush is FAR FAR more likely to make a public misquote than Obama EVER is going to be.
And measuring someone's capacity to be Commander in Chief by the accuracy of the statements they make from behind a microphone is NOT something you want to do when Bush is the leader of YOUR Party!!

What stupidity!

Bush in fact, may just have set some records for silly things said behind a microphone!

And the GOP merrily opens THAT can of worms anyhow....

If anyone decides to take them up on that comparison, it's going to generate a whole new line of late night TV material for a while...

Uh....Sirlamre?  They're politicians; you expected something different?  I'm no Obama fan but even I could come up with something better to try and pick on him about.  Sheesh....morons abound.  Especially in politics.

yeah. I agree. They're politicians, so a certain amount of unimaginable stupidity is expected.

But this is amazing even for the GOP.

What's more amazing is that you probably couldn't pound the concept that it was perhaps a BAD point to go after, even if you were Karl Rove.

That's what really amazes me -- the utter hardheadedness of some of them -- even faced with mountains of evidence that their bill/idea/plan is silly, they are just SO convinced that THEY are right....

I was just reading about this in the paper and I have to say,..it really is doing just the reverse than what they are trying to do,at least with me.I have somewhat of a renewed interest in his words for the moment.
I aint quite sure about Obama but I do respect the fact that he has spoke about this, and if he mis-spoke about actual camp,...oh well,...how often do we all get sht mixed up,....and fact is,...it DID happen and it is so different than Hillary's "stories".
I have to say this too,...Hillary's reluctance to release her income tax forms until it was pulled from her and still aint complete,....and Mc'Cains wife refusing to release hers has sealed their fate,as far as I am concerned.Actually,...Hillary was a no-brainer for me no matter what she did.
If they are so secretive about that issue, why the hel should we trust them with acess to so much more cash to squander or steal,...at our expense.
I was leaningtowards Mc'Cain for awhile until Cindy she her high and mighty road which remeinded me of Leona Helmsley.

Over-inflated delusions of their own incapacity to be wrong.  It seems to be a common thing among politicians in general; never mind Republican or Democrat!

I'd have to agree with you that it seems to be a desperate grasp at straws.  And another example of sheer hypocrisy.  Those in glass houses....yanno?

I wonder if self-inflicted wounds are as obvious to everyday people as one is to a military medic.  ::sly::

I still don't see how a misspoken word has any bearing on a candidate's ability in office.

Has anyone heard Obama ever talk about stopping the invasion to our country?  Has anyone heard ANY of our three lovely picks, say anything about the illegals destroying our sovereignty?  What the hell difference does any of what they have to say mean if it's not going to help us now?  This is why we don't get anyone in office who's worth a rats as*, as far as I'm concerned!

Any candidate that gives hundreds of speeches over a six month period is at some point going to misspeak. My concern isn't his occassional misspeaking but the purposeful statements of policy that express his desire ballon the size of government and put more control of our money in the hands of government.

FGP, I don't recall Obama making a comprehensive statement regarding his thinking on immigration policy and securing our borders. For that matter I haven't heard him discuss in detail how he proposes to "get us out of this war" and avoid major chaos in Iraq and the Middle East in general.

We may be getting details in the coming months but I'm tired of the generic "tax the rich and corporations", "I'm going to end Bush's war", "we can do better", "we deserve better" hogwashing I've been hearing for the last year.

I agree!!  This who said what about anything other than the issues taking our country down, means nothing to me!!  It's like a couple fighting in court over some stupid thing that one of them said years ago.  Get to the bottom of it, and divide the damn property!!  I haven't heard ANY of the candidates talk about getting rid of the illegal issue......at all!!  That to me in a major concern here.  MAJOR!

The GOP using Obama's lies about his uncle who defeated the Germans and liberated the concentration camps single handed is no different than the Dems taking McCain's comments about staying in Iraq for 100 years and twisting them out of context.

If you vote for EITHER of these jokers you are voting for more of the same...party politics at its worst!

Obama had a GREAT Uncle in World war two who was in the unit which liberated Ohrdruf a prison camp that was part of the Buchenwald comples of camps.

The only "UNCLE" Obama has on his mother's side is in fact his granduncle

89th Infantry Division
Liberated Ohrdruf (Buchenwald subcamp)
