I watched a documentary on cable two nights ago I think, all about the corruption in Iraq via the private contractors and spending.  It was unbelievable.  The lack of accountability.  Buying new trucks instead of fixing a tire, sending truckers out to red hot spots without protection, many got killed ... most of the clean water stations infected with stuff, telling others to look the other way .. connections to Cheney getting them off the hook, too many things to list.  It was very sad - sad on all levels.

Everything from the food to the torture is just rotted with corruption, you wouldn't believe it!  The amount of money Haliburton and its subsidiaries steal and rape from us, at the expense of human life, is just the most immoral thing America is involved with that I have seen in a long time.  The Administration and Congress are SUCKING at running Iraq and there is CORRUPTION at ALL levels involved.

MrNut, I think this is the way it has always been. Anytime the government is involved in anything like this, we can expect corruption. There is no one to hold them accountable, and they sure aren't going to police themselves. They wouldn't get their kick backs if they did.

This time, though, Bush & Co. have taken this to levels that no one even imagined in decades past.

Even accounting for inflation, etc - adjusting for all that,
what Halliburton/etc have done with their politically enhanced time in Iraq is absolutely BEYOND belief.

I have friends in the military-- they all consistently report that while the soldiers want to win and are trying (and fully deserve our support), the political corruption on the part of American political operatives, contractors, etc, as they are allowed by the Administration which fights off any auditing and oversight with "national security" methods..

more than 90% of the soldiers all agree that this is FAR FAR worse than anything they've ever seen -- anything their fathers and older family members who've served in previous conflicts can remember...

it's out of control over there from a US political appointee/contractor side of things.

Did you know that the COST of the operations that Halliburton has "performed" to provide amenities for US visiting political appointees is "secret due to national security concerns" ??

Just the price of it is ---- not who, not where, not when.... just the $$$ figure is "national security" according to Bush's people.
