This was confirmed on Snopes, but I have found no other documentation of it.

In 1968, Robert Kennedy made a speech on a radio broadcast of Voice of America.  In his speech he stated:  "Things are moving so fast in race relations, in 40 years a negro could achieve the same position my brother had.  ...we are trying to make progress and we are making progress.  We are not going to accept the status quo."
