I don't for the life of me understand why we Americans don't charge the Middle East for stabilizing their countries??  If in fact this is one of the reasons we're there???  Our oil should be FREE!  If in fact we did rid the Middle East of a tyrant dictator, Saddam Hussein, then why aren't they GIVING us our oil????  The way I see this is, we are either really stupid to think they really want us in their country to begin with or, we are really stupid to fight their wars and still allow them to charge us for any of their oil.  These are my thoughts about the so called oil crisis............

There were no wars until we started them, and invited every potential terrorist to emigrate to Iraq.  I'd estimate that at least 75% of Iraqi's wish we had never illegally invaded their country, and would prefer to live in Pre-US Occupied Iraq.  And yes our once great and now debased stupid nation has acted that way for the last 7+ years.

Don't forget that they don't WANT democracy, whatever Bush tries to spindoctor you into believing they want.

Most want stability, but they want Islamic law (Sharia law) -- which is NOT the kind of Islam practiced by the radical elements of Islam.

What the radical elements of Islam are doing in twisting Sharia law to their own ends is just as if Christian fundamentalists went and started trying to rabidly enforce all of those OT laws Frank likes to quote- about beating your wife, selling your children as slaves, beating your slaves to death in certain ways.

Radical Islam is doing that same thing- taking the most extreme and fanatical interpretations of Islamic law possible and trying to enforce that.

Most Muslims don't WANT that kind of extremist Sharia law --- but neither do they want American-style corrupt democracy in their countries.

Most of all, THEY want to make the choice, not have someone from outside make it for them.

So no -- the leaders of the Arab countries who are MAKING the money AND who are in charge have NO incentive to give us the oil for free!

And the rank and file population wouldn't do that either-- because THEY aren't getting anything for the oil in their country either. All their leaders own huge yachts in Monaco and so on with all that oil money. That money isn't being spent in the country it's paid to -- most of it goes right back out the borders to investors OUTSIDE the Arab country in question ---

Or what little of it IS spent inside the country is not going to anything the people get to use --- just resorts and mansions for the wealthy

It sounds like they've become a capitalistic country then doesn't it.  I think they've already got the American-style corrupt democracy in their country.......

I heard that America has 4% of the world population and uses 25% of the world's oil!

We will soon be submitting to Islam not by sword but by manipulation and addiction.

So many misguided people......."no wars until we started them?"..Do you even bother to follow the news? Do you even really understand anything? The 75% of the people you claim that don't want us there is a wrong...just out right wrong...you really need to watch other TV news and read other news papers..you are certainly gettting the wrong info....The Iraqi govt has ASKED us not to go yet....That is fact..try dealing with fact, not made up fantasy...sheesh.

I do agree the we should be getting a major break on oil...but most of that money right now, is going for infrastructure and rebuilding Iraq...

Good grief.. at the ignorance on these forums...

Maybe we should wait to fight all wars until they get in YOUR backyard...yea...that would really be better..to heck with fighting them on other soil..it would be a lot better for most people if we had our cities destroyed and more of our citizens killed...

Just remember this.......your Democrats voted for this war too....it was the right decision at the time and had to be done...

Thnings could have been done better, as in all wars.....but no matter what, the war is almost won and the Iraq govt will be a beacon for other 3rd world countries there...

The only ones that want us out, are the terrorists..not the citizens...

At what point do you really understand this world?......Remember you said the terrorists all went to Iraq to fight?.......where do you think they were planning to fight?....No sense in being a terrorists unless you are plannig something to destroy and disrupt....Fighting them in one place is genius. better there than New York, LA, ATL etc...or do you just not care?

This is the most uninformed forum I have ever seen on the internet.  Pitiful.

The U.S. could cut fuel consumption by 15% if we would just use the technology that we already have. I am reading many stories of energy efficient housing, high mileage cars and generally more conservatism on the part of everyday Americans from my neighbors to the bigger players in my towns economic scene. This is the part that is most painful, after a few more years of this type of growth in energy efficient building projects we will see a better economy not by increasing our dependency on oil, but by using what we have with more thoughtful ideas. The only way to get out of this is to let Americans use their brains and no President or Senate will do it, it will be up to the will of the people and this is what politicians fear the most. If the demand drops so will the influence of oil on our economy and it's stranglehold on our necks.

Flood the market with oil....increased supply will drive down the cost, by getting the speculators out of the business..In the meantime, expand our technology and invest in the other forms of power, wind, solar, nuclear...

What your party says and what they do are two different things, they talk about how competition keeps prices down, but they are all for mergers to do away with it. We know about OPEC and we know how the game of Monopoly works!

I truly don't know the answerers as far as the Iraq war anymore.  I will say this, if the Iraq government is anything like ours, of course they want us to stay..we're using our military to protect their oil, and they're corrupt government, you know, the one that gets along with our corrupt government!!  Meanwhile, we're rebuilding their country with our money!  The one we destroyed, in order to get them in power.  I'm not saying they're worse then the dictator who ruled, what I am saying is, they're no better than ours...........what does that tell you?!!

Not to harp on the same subject, but guess what, there is a war in our back yard!!  And people ARE getting killed!!!

Great about Iraq being a beacon for 3rd world countries.....they can help us when we're one then, because it's coming soon!!

We should have been doing that for the past 30 years or longer. Instead, we have the Environmentalists running congress and the media. Blame the Environmentalists for the problem of oil consumption. They talk a good talk but like Al Gore most of them don't live a green lifestyle.

It tells me that you certainly don't much about other countries. If you think the fledgling govt in Iraq is comparable to ours, you certainly need a history, economics and social education....Do we have some problems?..Yep. Is it as bad as you and a lot of the left wing zealots paint it? nope...This is still far and away the best country on the face of this earth, the country were dowtrodden countries and people come for help....nobody else can or will....

Listen...you better thank your lucky stars that oil is being protected...You think the price of gas is high now???? You really have NO idea.
