That's just another way of supporting creationism in schools, although obviously it is not as direct as her real feelings about how both should be taught.

There's no doubt in my mind if she had her way it would be taught in public schools.

I think creationism should be taught in public school.  Religion, is one of the most talked about and believed subjects through out time.  Why on earth wouldn't you want it to be a subject brought up to dissect, examine and discuss?  Unlike many subjects, religion is here to stay!!  Personally, I don't think you'll have anything to worry about because all the people who've brought their beliefs to this country, will fight like cats and dogs to have equal rights...........

How can you even bother to worry about teaching the difference between creationism and evolution when there are way too many schools going out of their way to accommodate the Muslims and Islam so not to offend them?

Christian and Jewish peoples in this country are being shoved aside and stifled but no one is complaining how governmental institutions, airports and even taxi's are now accommodating this new Muslim crap so we don't offend anyone.  NYC even has a publicly funded Muslim bases school now.

It was not 'forbidden' to ask the differences between each religion or the difference between creationism versus evolution in schools when I was a kid.  All through grade school, junior high and then high school we all asked one teacher or another. I had the gamut of teachers too from obvious hippies to stick up the ass conservatives and not one of them pushed their beliefs upon any kid who asked but merely gave a very impartial explanation between them all - whatever the question was.

Frankly, I don't care what anyone believes but when you stifle education of ANY kind because you have a warped idea of what separation of church and state means, then you are censoring education and not enlightening anyone.

Because that is:

1) picking just one particular religion or religious view instead of all the others

2) using tax dollars to teach religion to kids when millions of parents don't want it

3) Unconstitutional since using tax dollars puts Government in the religion business

::thumbs::  Exactly!!  Just look at the threads in here with the most hits!  Religion threads!  With all the areas and topics to discuss, I can't for the life of me understand why it shouldn't be a topic in school.   AND..I agree with TK about not offending the Muslims!  How about not offending the Christians?    Again..this is the religion we were founded on.

How about putting government in the porn business, which is what my school district is about to do!  They're getting ready to introduce blow jobs and gay sex as a method of birth control!  That's not where I want my tax dollars to go either.........

How is allowing it to be discussed if it came up, just another way of supporting creationism?

It's supportive of it, in other words.  Aren't you supportive of a planet-sized three-headed lesbian meatball monster creating animal species on Earth if you thought it should be seriously discussed in schools?  I know it's not direct or anything, but I am also including the context of her wanting and supporting both evolution and creationism being taught.  She made it clear enough to me, generally speaking, that she would be AOK with tax dollars being used to fund education/discussion about an invisible super daddy who created all the species, based, primarily, on the Bible.  It's not even inclusive of all religions.

I don't buy she is something besides what her religious conditioning obviously results in and that she confirms with her own words and related positions.

I don't see it that way, Frank.  She herself might support creationism, but discussing it in schools is just that -- discussing it.  The reason I'm in favor of that is because if you have a serious side-by-side discussion of evolution and creationism, you can debunk the myths that creationism uses to challenge evolution.  It's hard to educate children properly when you ignore a whole school of thought on a subject.

Would you teach a statistics course without teaching the Gambler's fallacy?

Teaching it as if it was true is an entirely different issue.
