I don't have much info, but my memory is that Letterman was negative on Repubs in the past. Not that this makes him wrong, but just sayin. ---------------------------------- NEW YORK - "Late Show" host David Letterman treated John McCain's decision to cancel an appearance on his talk show more like a stupid human trick than the act of a statesman. I like the fact that McCain is willing to cross party lines to get the job done. I hate the way Dems and Rep do not get together for the good of the country, always voting against each other and generally just being asses on both sides, even though they know what is right. Letterman will say anything to get ratings he is as bad as any Politician. Last edited on 04:01 pm by librtyhead |

Letterman has been pretty partisan for the Democrats. This isn't really surprising to me. Leno is also a Democrat, but I find him to be more even-handed in his treatment of political subjects. And I'd venture to guess that McCain agrees, since he's been on Leno's show 13 times so far.

Lettermans a big leftie........No secret there. The pressing issue is the economy and this fiasco..not a freaking debate...... Obama has turned down numerous offers for debates already, now that he's studied for 3 weeks, he wants to debate..... Of course like he said....call him if he's needed. Bush called him...he's going now. Wonder what Letterman will say about Obama caving in?...

It's quite objective and illustrates that he is totally unqualified to lead America. He routinely makes decisions with inexact and incomplete information. Poor students never wanted or learned to do their homework, and he admits as much. I'd choose Obama by default. Then again, the cutie on the cover of GQ could do no worse than Bush has. Dr. Steve

What really happened is that McSame KNEW that Obama could debate the pants off him and... he CHICKENED OUT! Lets's see....Obama said himself that this was the most important crisis that has faced the United States since the depression of 1929....his words....but all of a suddden a debate is more important, one that was scheduled to be on foreign affairs?...Obama has turned down at least three offers from McCain to have debates and Obama didn't want to.(.Insert CHICKEN here)... I know you won't understand this or don't care, but McCain being afraid of that little wuss Obama? What a laugh! The dufus is a PAID senator, the last time I saw, and it's HIS job to be there taking care of the peoples business...not being the great orator...There's plenty of time for him to give a glorius speech, the trouble is, American needs action, not speeches.....talk about total lack of leadership..... He said he was staying , He said call him ..Bush called and he tucked his chicken ass an went...there's your chicken. Last edited on 10:05 pm by Millennium |

Being darn near LAST in your class may still mean they call you Doctor, or allow you to learn to fly a bomber It DOES NOT mean that you are good enough to be President. Neither does an Ivy League degree either --- But Steve, you can knock summa cum laude all you want --- but that is NOT easy to do. I know many people who've graduated from Annapolis and the 'Point --- ALL of them have GREAT respect for people who've graduated with a cum lauda from someplace like Harvard. Again -- I'm NOT saying this means Obama is good--- but I DO NOT think that graduating near to last from Annapolis, the 'Point, or the Air Force Academy is something that automatically puts a person in the top 3% of citizens or some crap like that. More than 90% of people who graduate UNDER the 25% mark from both of those schools ARE NOT seen to be fit to command truly important things--- they retire out at lower ranks. If McCain hadn't been a "war hero" for getting shot down, I'm not at all certain he'd have gone much farther in the military. It's even possible that without his family history in the Navy, they'd have washed him OUT of Annapolis outright --- a lot of people with "family" high up get quite protected there --- they "scrape by" and graduate, because no one wants to embarass their fathers.. I know of a few convicted FELONS who graduated from Annapolis with HIGHER grades than McCain did. Now you wanna talk someone who can WALK the walk on a military career, talk about Colin Powell -- He's not a good politician - he didn't know not to get involved with a crowd that was going to use him-- he was too straight and honest of a military man to play in the "lie to get ahead" game of national politics. And he's learned his lesson and is SMART enough not to want to run for VP or Prez --- THAT's intelligence... as opposed to these morons who don't KNOW that they don't have what it takes.. Powell KNOWS what he can do and can't, and ISN"T going to allow his ego to get him to try for things he shouldn't. He may play that behind "my family" for a palatable reason, but it's really that he KNOWS BETTER thanto try it. Powell would slam Obama INTO the ground if he ran... And he'd show McCain what a REAL military career was -- where you EARNED your stars -- McCain's POW time deserves great respect- --- but it's like electing a guy President because he got his leg blown off on 9/11 or something. it's something deserving respect, but it's just NOT connected to "can they do the job" Incidentally, McCain has NEVER commanded men in battle to my knowledge--- He was not the commander of the Air wing he flew in -- just a regular pilot. The only record I can find of him actually having men under his direct comamnd is as a training squadraon commander -- I don't know that he has EVER ordered men to fly off the deck of a carrier to die. Not that he'd be the only President who has never done that --- Obama certainly hasn't either. just pointing it out. I think people get confused about what his military service really implies for C&C actions -- Colin Powell most certainly HAS given orders that meant men under his command would die -- probably even knew their names when he commanded smaller units Again, this is NOT meant to say that Obama is better--- So don't respond to this and just blast Obama. Sirlarme..I have NEVER said McCain was qualified because he graduated from anything...I have not used his war record as a qualification for anything I am going by the character of the man, which DOES mean something. If I put the men side by side and look at the character of both men, and the way they have handled themselves over the years, that is what I care about. McCain isn't a great speaker, but he has character. McCain , I feel, cares about America, the way I care about America, he hasn't had to explain why he didn't wear the flag pin or why Cindy has just now started liking America...It goes with is record of honor Common sense means a lot...all the smarts in the world from Harvard or Yale....doesn't mean a damn thing if your character has flaws. There are a lot of very intelligent, well educated crooks, thieves and vermin out there, I am sure you will agree. The president that gets elected will surround himself with others that are like him, act like him and work with him and he is comfortable with.. That being said, I feel McCain will surround himself with the very people that aren't God Damming America, on the take from Fannie Maes and backed by George Soros. and the Left wing fringe that I see every day..That's my opinion, you certainly may disagree...but again, it gets back to a character and judgement issue...in that respect, I feel that McCain is the leader. One last thing......experience does mean something....27 years in the Senate does count for something and the history of working with both Democrats and Republicans does count..He is the only one running for office THAt has truely shown bipartisianship..Does it matter?....Time will tell. McCain lacks a sharpness, I fear. That combined with his nutty VP is a problem. I just feel like he is old and can fade at any time, leaving whacko in charge. Obama lacks experience and terrifies me on some other fronts. Back to square one, other Parties. I hate this because I was really looking forward to the Debates. Now I will be watching for entertainment purposes only, knowing I won't be voting for either of them. I had wanted to be excited and root for someone, at least. Oh well ...
