Unless something big changes in this election I believe Obama will beat McCain by about 380/158 in the electoral vote.  Looks like a lot of solid "red states" are now leaning his way.

If he does, it will confirm my belief that our country has become a population of brain dead idiots!

That pretty much sums up my opinion.  I think Obama will be a disaster at best.

Obama's experience/attendance record, voting record, and personal affiliation record is troublesome to say the least. After 9/11 how can we vote in someone with Islamic education and anti-American/terrorist buddies? Insane.  He already has loads of favors packed into the bills he has been on with his pork barrel express gravy train.  I just wish McCain wasn't 139 years old and too much of the McSame.  He has a spark of character that could have carried him if he had just been more convincing about real change.  I just think both of them will basically enable the same basic problems going forward, although McCain is less likely.  I'd pick McCain over Obama if I had to pick between the two.  I trust Obama as far as I can throw a terrorist.  I think Obama will win mainly because people are just terrified for another 4 years of Republican leadership and they want some renewed attention on their basic struggles and concerns (healthcare, less war, etc.)

Palin would make a SCARY President.

And McCain couldn't survive his first real stressful moment as President.

That being said, I DO wish our first black President was going to be Colin Powell...

Too much common sense after what happened to him when he was Bushs' SecState.

I think he REALLY regrets some of the things he was ordered to do and say by that Texas idiot..

I don't trust either Obama or McCain, but I have a feeling that Obama would be the lesser of two evils.

Surely anything is better than a continuation of the disasterous Bush legacy of ineptitude ?

Frank, he is going to owe some on the radical left BIGTIME. Anyone that thinks the majority of the hundreds of millions of dollars his campaign has raised was donors of less then $200 needs to have the head examined. He will have more strings attached to him then an army of puppets and I'm very suspect about who will be pulling those strings.

No doubt, but McCain will have strings as well.  I understand there are 4+ billion dollars of tax cuts to oil companies in his proposal.  That concerned me, among other things.

I do think Obama is more of a problem in the "money for friends" department.  I think his record demonstrates this compared to McCain's.

No doubt both will have strings. But those pulling McCain's are fairly well know quantities. I'm very unclear as to who exactly will be pulling Obama's strings and I'm more concerned about where they may be trying to take us.

I don't know if this data is true, I've checked snopes and found nothing.  Were either of his parents wealthy?  With or without this, I'm concerned about his Muslim connections PERIOD!  For all it's worth it's something you might find interesting right about now in this conversation......

Gary & Jan________________________________________________________]

To All My Friends, this is long, but very important. ]Please take the time to read it.

This election has me very worried, so many things to consider.  About a year ago I would have voted for Obama. ]I have changed my mind three times since then.  I watch all the news channels, jumping from one to another.  I must say this drives my husband crazy.  But, I feel if you view MSNBC, CNN, and Fox News, you might get some middle ground to work with.  About six months ago, I started thinking 'where did the money come from for Obama.'  I have four daughters, each went to college, we were middle class, and money was tight.  We (including my girls) worked hard and there were lots of student loans.

I started looking into Obama's life.

Around 1979, Obama started college at Occidental in California. ]He is very open about his two years at Occidental.  He tried all kinds of drugs and was wasting his time but, even though he had a brilliant mind, did not apply himself to his studies.  During this time, 'Barry' (that was the name he used all his life) had two roommates, Muhammad Hasan Chandoo and Wahid Hamid, both from Pakistan.  During the summer of 1981, after his second year in college, he made a 'round the world' trip, stopping to see his mother in Indonesia.  Next, he went to Hyderabad in India, three weeks in Karachi, Pakistan where he staye d with his roommate's family and then off to Africa to visit his father's family.  My question - Where did he get the money for this trip?[size=  Neither I, nor any one of my children would have had money for a trip like this when we were in college.

When he came back, he started school at Columbia University in New York City. ]It is at this time he wants everyone to call him Barack, not Barry.  Do you know what the tuition is at Columbia?  It's not cheap to say the least.  Where did he get money for tuitionStudent Loans?  Maybe.

After Columbia, he went to Chicago to work as a Community Organizer for $12,000 a year. Why Chicago?  Why not New York City?  He was already living in New York City.  By 'chance,' he met Antoin 'Tony' Rezko, born in Aleppo, Syria, and a real estate developer in Chicago.  Rezko has been convicted of fraud and bribery this year.  Rezko, was named 'Entrepreneur of the Decade' by the Arab-American Business and Professional Association.'  About two years later, Obama entered Harvard Law School.  Do you have any idea what tuition is&nbs p;for Harvard Law School?  Where did he get the money for Law School?[ More student loans?

After Law school, he went back to Chicago. ]Rezko offered him a job, which he turned down.  But, he did take a job with Davis, Miner, Barnhill & Galland.  Guess what?  They represented 'Rezar' which is Rezko's firm.  Rezko was one of Obama's first major financial contributors when he ran for office in Chicago.  In 2003, Rezko threw an early fundraiser for Obama which Chicago Tribune reporter David Mendelland claims was instrumental in providing Obama with 'seed money' for his U. S. Senate race.

In 2005, Obama purchased a new home in Kenwoood District of Chicago for $1.65 million (less than asking price). ]With ALL those Student Loans - Where did he get the money for the property?[size= ]On the same day Rezko's wife, Rita, purchased the adjoining empty lot for full price.  The London Times reported that Nadhmi Auchi, an Iraqi-born billionaire loaned Rezko $3.5 million three weeks before Obama's new home was purchased.  Obama met Nadhmi Auchi many times with Rezko.

Now, we have Obama running for President. Valerie Jarrett, was Michele Obama's boss.  She is now Obama's chief advisor and he does not make any major decisions without talking to her first.  Jarrett was born in Shiraz, Iran, a fact which may not have significance to Obama’s plans.

On May 10, 2008, The Times reported, Robert Malley, advisor to Obama, was 'sacked' after the press found out he was having regular contacts with 'Hamas,' an organization that controls Gaza and is connected with Iran. ]This past week, buried in the back part of the papers, Iraqi newspapers reported that during Obama's visit to Iraq, he asked their leaders to do nothing about the war until after he is elected, and he will 'Take care of things.'

Oh, and by the way, remember the college roommates that were born in Pakistan? ]They are in charge of all those 'small' Internet campaign contributions for Obama.  Where is that money coming from?The poor and middle class in this country?  Or could it be from the Middle East?

And the final bit of news. ]On September 7, 2008, The Washington Times posted a verbal slip that was made on 'This Week' with George Stephanapoulos.  Obama on talking about his religion said, 'My Muslim faith.'  When questioned, 'he made a mistake.'  Some mistake!

[size=All of the above information I got on line. ]If you would like to check it – see these sources:
Wikipedia, encyclopedia, Barack Obama;
Tony Rezko;
Valerie Jarrett: Daily Times - Obama visited Pakistan in 1981;
The Washington Times - September 7, 2008;
The Times May 10, 2008.

Now the BIG question - If I found out all this information on my own. Why haven't all of our 'intelligent' members of the press been reporting this?

A phrase that keeps ringing in my ear - 'Beware of the enemy from within.'

Marlene

I do think Obama will probably win, as the circumstances seem to be aligning in his favor, but I don't see it as a blowout.  I think some of the "leaning Democratic" states won't fall into Obama's column at the end of the day.

The problem with predicting how people will vote in this election is that Obama is being portrayed as a social phenomenon (the "in" thing) and McCain is being portrayed as a Jurassic candidate.  While it's clear that not everyone shares those biases, the fact that those biases are so frequently portrayed out in the media (mainstream or otherwise) means you have a certain percentage of people who, if asked, say they're going to vote for him, but won't.  In addition to that, you've got the latent racists who would not vote for him because of his color, but wouldn't say that to people, when asked.

And then you have to add to that the ACORN shenanigans.  It's difficult to get a serious read on the polls when Democrats could be overrepresented because of voter registration fraud.

I think Obama has the wind at his back, at this point, but I think this election is going to be closer than a lot of people think.

What's next, voting for politicians from one of the two Major Parties because you currently feel that one has clearer indications of raping and killing only 20 women instead of 30?
