She tried to fire her ex-brother law who is a state trooper for no legitimate reason, she then fired the official who refused to fire him !

Excellent behaviour from a possible vice president in waiting !

Didn't she have that librarian fired, too?

Yes she threatened to fire the librarian after Palin asked her if she would censor and remove certain books from the librarys collection, the librarian (naturally) said no way.

But, in her defense..she can stand on the porch and look across the water and see Russia.  That should count for something.  Someone needs to keep an eye on them.

But then.. I can stand on the edge of Lake Ontario at a certain beach just north of Rochester, and on a clear night can see the lights of Toronto, Canada.  Does that make me a good candidate for VP?  Can I have the job?  Can I, can I please?  I will eat all my veggies..even the broccoli if I can be VP.  :giantgrin:

She also has some mildly amusing "hockey mom" anecdotes.

I wouldn't like to see a vice president who can't come up with a load of lame ass anecdotes would you ?.

Now this is some seriously messed up info.  I really liked Palin out of the gate, but the more I learn about her, the less I like her.  I didn't see anything in the article about what specific books this psycho wanted banned.  Anyone have a way to find that out?  This is America, not Nazi Germany.  Palin needs someone to strap a leash on her and snap her back into reality.

Our choices for who to put into power are becoming less and less palatable, and they weren't that great to begin with.

From Amy's article;

  • She did not demand that books be banned from the Wasilla library. Some of the books on a widely circulated list were not even in print at the time. The librarian has said Palin asked a "What if?" question, but the librarian continued in her job through most of Palin's first term.
  • How the hell are we supposed to learn what is true and what isn't?  Seems to me the only way is to go ask the person in question to their face and even then, you're likely to get more lies.

    This is all so confusing; it's so hard to know what to believe.  Who's to say Amy's link isn't erroneous, too?  My head hurts.

    I think the whole thing is nonsense.

    The guy serves at her pleasure.  She had (even according to the inquiry) legitimate reasons to fire him, and he, in turn, had no legitimate reasons not to fire the trooper.  At best, he was insubordinate.

    UTR:  The information that Amy linked to is available in many other sources.  And the proof of what it says is found in the supposed list of books being banned -- some of which aren't even in print any longer.

    exactly my point in the 'propaganda' thread!  It's gotten to the point that we cannot believe anything we hear.  Everyone has an agenda.  It's become so entrenched in our culture, that we don't know where to turn for truth anymore.
  • Frank made this a sticky in the political forum. http://www.factcheck.org/  and so far imho it appears to uncover the facts on both sides...and when new information comes to light articles are updated.  It claims to be non-partisan, which does seem to be the case as there is plenty of unflattering information on both sides.  It's not perfect, but better than nothing I suppose.

    Yes the fact her sister was in the middle of an acrimonious split from her brother in law at the time is a complete coincidence !

    ::rolling::

    What exactly were the "legitimate" reasons she had to fire him ?

    And lets not forget that a state legislature probe has found her guilty of abusing power, this is an undeniable fact.

    What I find interesting is that other sites have their own "fact check" sections, and those are a little bit suspect to me.

    For example:  CNN has one, but if you follow it for a while, you notice a pattern:  Between the two camps, the exact same level of deception can be given different labels (depending on whether the claim came from Obama's or McCain's campaign).  More often than not, the commentary for a McCain claim will simply say "False", when the level of deception is no worse than an Obama claim that will be labeled as "True but misleading".

    This is typical of how CNN deals with Obama's claims about McCain's proposals.

    Now, I'm not sure what planet the CNN analyst is from, but on my planet, keeping someone's taxes the same from one year to the next isn't giving them a "cut".  The cut happened many years before the next president would even take office.  What Obama calls a "tax cut" is really the absence of a tax hike.

    I've seen a lot of Palin speaking, from the Debate to interviews recent and in the past, and the next time she speaks, I am waiting for her to whip out a sheet of cupcakes as she invites people over for a Tupperware party. Cut down the hometown chipper smiley hockey mom thing already.
