Mill, what is it that Erinna is supposed to deny or confirm?  Who she voted for?  I can tell you that she won't tell us who she voted for.  She won't even tell me, and she's my sister!  No one is required to tell anyone else who they voted for.

And Brian has this whole issue summed up quite nicely in the post above mine.  There is little to no chance that Obama would have gotten to President-elect if he wasn't a citizen.

On the on in one trillion chance that Obama's citizenship did fly under the radar, the most likely outcome wouldn't be a new election.  It's not the election that's in doubt with this issue.  It's Obama's eligibility for office that is the question.  The most likely outcome, then, would be that Obama would have to resign.  If he didn't choose to resign, he could be impeached, on the basis of having committed fraud to get into the presidency.  If impeachment charges were brought (which I think they'd have to be, because it's a pretty cut-and-dried requirement under the Constitution), it would be interesting to see what would happen.  Would the Republicans find the support they needed to have Obama impeached and convicted?  I doubt it.  If the public didn't support Clinton's impeachment, I can't imagine they'd support impeaching Obama, simply because his victory in the election was so historic and (electorally, at least) decisive.

But all of that is historical fiction, as far as I'm concerned.    There isn't really any chance that the people who put Obama up for election during the primaries and general election would make such a stupid mistake.

Dammit, I hate it when I post and bump a great point onto the previous page.

It's actually a carryover from her "Don't get it" about the questions on Obama...I don't really care who she voted for...and I don't expect her to tell...not really. Most people are proud who they vote for...the ones that aren't usually aren't so proud...take that any way you want.

And Brian has this whole issue summed up quite nicely in the post above mine. There is little to no chance that Obama would have gotten to President-elect if he wasn't a citizen.
I agree to a point....but stranger things have happened...look how long it took for us to find out about his racist preacher....over 20 years he sat there with him, look at his associations with Bill Ayers...again, that came out AFTER he was nominated...Just because the Democrats and the willing press didn't vet him out, doesn't make questions about the man seem insignificant.....

Do I think he is not an American Citizen...nope. Do I think it matters now? nope...We have what we have.

You're actually wrong here Brian......The public did support it, and he was impeached by the Congress...The Senate didn't impeach him....

But...for the record he WAS impeached by the Congress....

Take it any way I want?  I don't even know what you're driving at.  I wouldn't tell who I voted for either, but I'm perfectly content with my decision.  Being proud of your vote means......it means what, exactly?  I'm just not getting what your gripe is.  Maybe I'm dense, I dunno.

Ahhh...drop it..at this point I don't want to keep on with it.....It was a snide remark about the ones that voted for Obama, not caring or understanding 2/3rds of the guys background, history or policies...

At this point....I really don't care...we have what we have......

Hi, Mill,

At the time, it was reported that the public didn't support impeachment (the majority didn't, at least).

You're absolutely right that he was impeached, though.  He wasn't convicted in the Senate, which is why he was able to serve out his term.  I attribute the fact that he wasn't convicted to the public's support of him.  Frankly, I thought he should've been convicted.  He violated black letter law, regardless of how he got to that point.  (And yes, I'll stipulate that the underlying sex in the perjury/obstruction charge wasn't a significant issue, but I don't think that was ever the point.  The point was that if you're put under oath in a court of law, you have to tell the truth.  You'll notice that the Bush administration has fought tooth and nail to avoid letting anyone in the administration go under oath.)

You're gonna have to point  out something to me that was stranger than this remote, microscopic possibility.  A possibility so remote it is laughable.

I don't get it Mill.  Why "let this go"?  What's with the avoidance?

Of course there is plenty about the man we don't know.  There's plenty about many people that things that we don't know.  But this topic about his "questionable" citizenship is just totally absurd.  I don't know why people are still hanging onto this silly subject.

I have long agreed that that is why Clinton SHOULD have been impeached.

He should have done a "yes, I did that and I'm sorry. Can we get back to running America now?"

Then again, with the growing number of politicians who've had  to resign after getting caught going outside their marriage, his initial disavowal makes sense.

Just not in a court of law.

That being said ---

I think it's VERY interesting that the Bush Admin has tried as hard as they have to keep people from having to testify.

And you can bet dollars to donuts that the reason has little to do with "national security". There have been a number of people who've been tried-to-subpoena who had NO security clearance above what _I_ have.

They couldn't have leaked anything important under oath if they'd wanted to.

But they COULD (and probably will now) implicate the Bush Administration in some seriously shady doings.

See my previous post about Halliburton being sued shortly by MANY of the companies that tried to get contract work in Iraq.

Mill wants to brush it off as nothing --- but the thing is the scale of it --- THAT is one of the things the Bush Admin doesn't want uncovered any more than Hillary wanted TravelGate or the real estate mess uncovered.
