This is exactly what needs to happen! Funny how you all try to spin this like it’s a bad thing. (But we've come to expect that from fear-mongering NEOCONS!) Our current government’s approach to “defense” is to spend billions and billions of dollars on building up our military structures to “fight” the “enemy.” (George Orwell's 1984 Anyone?) Did you know that we have about 5% of the world’s population, but spend over 50% of the world’s total military spending? Please watch the movie, Why We Fight. It has everything to do with Military-Industrial-Complex, which makes a killing off of every military dollar spent. Just like Obama’s position, our country’s defense secretary, Robert Gates, just recently (three days ago) denounced the way the Pentagon seems to be obsessed with expensive, unecessary equipment. “High atop Gates’ hit list of such unneeded weapons are F-22 fighters beyond the 183 already deployed or in the pipeline. The Air Force insists it needs perhaps twice as many of the $350 million fighters for possible wars with China or Russia.” -Time Magazine, Oct 1, 2008 So the fear-crazed neocons want to start ANOTHER WAR? Sheesh. it won't be a minute too soon to get them out of office and if there's a Merciful God, it'll be a long, long time before they get back in, if ever.
