Yeah, that changes things!
If every American stayed home it would be our best hope for change.

Or if everyone quit paying taxes at once...
There's a saying. If you want someone to love you forever, buy a dog, feed it and keep it around.

I don't see how this would actually effect any change. Apathy isn't a way to effect change. Voting is, however.
Not that I'm not frustrated that more people don't vote; I am. But how many people actually vote in this country -- 25%? Imagine how few people (of those who don't vote) would be needed to turn the tables on the status quo?? Not too many, percentage-wise. But staying home isn't going to get anything positive done.
Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. -Matthew 22:37-39

You realize that if everyone across this country who has said those exact words actually got out and voted Libertarian we would have a heck of a lot of Libertarians holding elective office.
Yes, but perhaps more importantly it would send a loud warning to both parties that they've gone too far. It would be a wake-up call that maybe things would change in the next election. It would energize the party and gain it some of the intellectual input it so sorely needs.
