Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. -Matthew 22:37-39

Anymore, I typically vote 3rd. Party. As far as saving America? Morally, this country is following Europe and going down...down...down...

Yeah, that changes things!

Voting Libertatian and staying home has exactly the same chance of changing things.  How many Libertarians hold elective office these days?

You people have no idea how much damage the Republican party has done to America in the last 25 years.

But you're going to find out very soon.

You realize that if everyone across this country who has said those exact words actually got out and voted Libertarian we would have a heck of a lot of Libertarians holding elective office.

Iwog, you sit and wring your hands about what will happen in the future and you sit and type your doom and gloom predictions over and over and over again ad-infinitum while always pointing a finger at those who disagree with you.

You say things like "you're going to find out soon" or "you people have no idea" and you refer to Bush as "your President," the Iraq war as "your war" etc..  as if you are somehow separated from the rest of the world in these scenarios.

You preached in the CUOF, here and who knows where else, like an evangelical preacher trying to convert the non-believer. I use the term "preach" because you do exactly what you accuse religion of doing: spreading a particular dogma to anyone and everyone you can gain audience to regardless of whether they wish to hear you or not and you do so because you truly believe you are absolutely, 100% right in what you say and nobody is going to change your mind.

I admire your passion and it's too bad you are an atheist because you'd make a good minister if you would ever convert. You are definitely, totally committed to your belief system and I doubt you ever do anything in your life without that same passionate committment. That is commendable trait if I must say so.

In a way you remind me a lot of the Apostle Paul before the Damascus Road incident. You should read up on him sometime. I'd recommend "St. Paul the Traveller and the Roman Citizen" by Sir William Mitchell Ramsay cr-1896

The main difference between you and I though Iwog, is that you worry about the future. You worry about what will happen if "X" is elected over "Y", you worry about the U.S. Economy, you worry about Peak Oil, you worry about Global Warming and a host of other worldly ills.

I don't   ;)

I don't agree with that.  Without a system of proprtional representation, or at least a few "at large" representatives, the odds of bringing a majority in any single district is slim.

Additionally, the demise of an established party is usually the result of some cathartic event - like slavery destroying the Whig party.  Now if you think Islamic terrorism is a cathartic event of that magnitude we're still probably stuck with the same old two since each has a clear stand.  However, if you think runaway spending rises to that level there may well be room for a new party.

For me, I just don't think the level of outrage is anywhere near whay's required to make Libertarianism (or Greenism, or White Nationalism, etc) viable.  I don't decry anyone's choice of voting but, IMO, you should relaize its a protest vote rather than a chance at electing a representive of your choice.  You'd probably have better luck achieving Libertarian goals supporting true believer Republican primary chalengers like they did for the Pennsylvannia state house this year.

People who have suffered very little in their lives are afforded the luxury of assuming things will always be pleasant.

On the outside it's considered being fat and lazy.

How do you explain to a child caught up in a massive depression in the year 2010 that "I voted for Bush because I just didn't worry about it."?   It still shocks me how much our founding fathers sacrificed just so modern Americans could piss it all away, but unfortunately with so many historical examples to rely on, it doesn't surprise me one bit.

You may not understand it, but I don't preach.  I throw out ideas and hope someone with some brains and education will spit them back in my face and show me how I'm wrong.

Example:  If our economy is going to continue to grow in 2007, where is the money going to come from?  Wage growth?  No, wages aren't growing anymore.  Real Estate?  Nope, equity isn't growing anymore. Exports?  HAHAHAHAHAHA  An increase in debt?  Okay that's possible, show me how Americans are going to shoulder an additional 5% worth of debt next year.

What do I get from the Right?  Crickets.  I must be on to something.  It's a process of idea filtration that's served me well.

For the record, I don't wring my hands.  A depression in this country will make me rich.  My business is bankruptcy.  I seek only truth.
