I'm not sure how anyone with an ounce of brains could conclude that misconduct committed by a Republican, reported to Republicans, and "looked into" by Republicans could possibly view this as a conspiracy of DEMOCRATS sitting on smoething. It ought to be obvious that Republicans had the singular ability to act on this information at any point since it was reported to them (as of now, it looks like the first concrete complaints were reported to Republicans in 2003). 'If they didn't want this issue to affect elections, and wanted to protect the kids, they could have acted years ago. No Democrat stopped them. 'Splain to me how the Democrats are to blame again. . . . Really, picnic, have they ruled out organic brain damage in your case?

For the record: I have no objections to investigating who knew what when, regardless of party affiliation. But the smearing of Democrats when there is ZERO evidence at present that any of them knew anything (and when it is simply counterintuitive to think that a Democrat would "cover" for Foley) is jes' plain dumb, stupid, idiotic partisan speculation. It doesn't make the least bit of sense.

BNE wrote: This just in: the leaker was a Republican. wonder how long it'll take the 24neo-cons to claim that he was paid by a Dem to leak it... Read as: "The GOP supporters CANNOT BELIEVE that their leadership could have screwed up ON THEIR OWN. If there has BEEN a screwup, the Dems HAVE to have played SOME sort of dirty trick. Our dear elected leaders could NOT have failed us all by themselves-- they are far too perfect for that." I think this is the homegrown version of "shock and awe" While I think there are probably scandals waiting to appear on the Dem side of the aisle too, I think the GOP owns this one outright-- all to themselves...with no help from the Dems, other than perhaps overzealous reactions like asking for resignations..which is unwarranted.. Next we'll have claims by conservatives that some of the pages were paid off by Pelosi to make sexual advances on Foley, and somehow their college is all paid for by liberals... Shortly after that, evidence will be discovered in Iraq of an Al-Queda plot to sexually harass GOP members of Congress..

BNE "'m not sure how anyone with an ounce of brains could conclude that misconduct committed by a Republican, reported to Republicans, and "looked into" by Republicans could possibly view this as a conspiracy of DEMOCRATS sitting on smoething." If you have been paying attention the sources for some of the information coming forward are in the back pockets of the Democratic party! Finding out how and when they got this information and how long they suppressed it from the public (waiting for a more opportune time to release it) is a matter for investigation. "It ought to be obvious that Republicans had the singular ability to act on this information" Wrong, if criminal activity was suspect ANY member of Congress that was aware of the activity had the means and responsibility to report it.

Yet we KNOW that Republicans sat on it, while there is not an iota of evidence that Democrats did. Funny, that.

BNE There are a number of reports that quite a few news agencies had knowledge of the Foley e-mails back in November of 2005 including ABC News and the Washington Post. The following is link to a timeline on the issue. If both the St. Petersburg Times and Miami Herald both claim to have had reports of the email in November of 2005 it's no major stretch of the imagination to believe other news agencies did have the information also. http://www.newsobserver.com/110/story/493929.html NOVEMBER 2005: The St. Petersburg Times says it assigned two reporters to investigate after being given copies of the e-mail exchange with the Louisiana teenager. The paper said Saturday that it decided not to publish at the time because of the seriousness of what would be implied and because the boy and the family would not go on the record. The Miami Herald says it, too, had a copy of the e-mail but decided not to go public because the message was not sexually explicit and was subject to interpretation. All of that aside, once the sexual nature of the e-mails and IM's were discovered Foley should have been force from Congress and brought up on charges

I guess I didn't consider ABC (which just aired the fiction "The Path to 9/11") or the Washington Post (which consistently editorializes in favor of Bush) to be "Democrats." But, hey, I don't live in your crazy world. Last edited on 07:29 pm by BNE |

I heard that the republicans purposely did not tell the democratic member of the group that oversees the pages about problems with Foley.

But, hey, I don't live in your crazy world." Airing one movie that put the onus on both Clinton and Bush doesn't counterbalance the liberal slant of ABC News. The mainstream media buried this story until it would do the most damage to the Republican's in November. But the voters are smart enough to realize that we can't give control of Congress to the cut and run, no plan for the future Democrats based on the actions of one Republican Congressman.
