Comparing those assholes to our founding fathers had got to be one of the dumbest things i have ever read on the internet.

Interesting...........

Didn't you just do a crusade on another thread about freedom of speech and the constitution? Or is it just the freedom to hear your side of it.

Whining/ Christianity in general condemns it, Mr. Constitution

As has been pointed out by another adult,  unrolling a banner and screaming is childish and unproductive.

It built our nation, ended the Vietnam war, improved civil rights, and women's rights, and began the process to end slavery.  Not exactly childish or unproductive.  It's certainly more productive than sitting at a computer, cynically despising any kind of action, while taking none yourself.

This is not decent, it's mornic lefty group bonding.

I tend to agree that it's good to see young people politically active again.

I am sure they were more excited to be part of some group getting attention than having any clue what the core issue was or how to debate it and change minds.

And what's so wrong with that?  Have you forgotten what it was like to be young? Besides, I think you underestimate them.  They are old enough to have passion and ideals.

Spoiled brats that won't realize how silly there form of protest is until they hit 30 or so.

Again, your cynicism is appaling.  It's the young that feel and act, by the time they are thirty, the struggle for sheer survival will take up most of their energy and much of their drive and desire will be burned away. In their youth, I admire their hope and idealism.  More power to them.

I put this question to you.  How are you protesting?  What efforts are you actively making to create a better planet and a stronger mankind?  I spend my days, nights, and summers crusading against ignorance by teaching.  I counsel the young and push them to strive.  I challenge them and focus their energy, instilling self confidence and pride, ambition and desire.

These "spoiled brats" are the future of our country and the hope of mankind.  Instead of reviling them...

you should be supporting them.

Name-calling does not reflect well upon you, Blackhawk.  You are intelligent enough to debate him on the issues.  To resort to this kind of behavior implies that you've run out of argument.

BTW...for the record, I don't agree with the student's position. In live in New Mexico and I am one of those that has to deal daily with the flood of illegal immigration and their children.

But I will defend their right to protest to the end.

Yea, verily.

I can't understand how someone can say college students are "finally" protesting. They've been destroying learning since the 1960's with enforced group-think and shouting down opinions they don't like. All the while they pride themselves on "tolerance" (as long as others opinions are identical to their own).

But I will defend their right to protest to the end.

Do you defend their "right" to shout others down, intimidate others with violence, and otherwise stifle debate? ::ohno::

Shiro, when it supports his views the answer is obviously in the affirmative.

No I do not.  No link was posted to the protest, so I assumed that the protest was peaceful and civil.

I never defend violence.  From my experience, it never makes anything better or solves any problems.

I was merely defending the right of the young to be passionate and challenge the status quo.

I'm not sure about the "waking up" comment either.  When I was in college (early 90's) there were protests all the time.

"enforced group-think "

That's a good one coming from a republican.  If you want an example of "enforced group-think", look to the US fundamentalist Christian movement, where people are more or less threatened with burning in hell if they don't support a certain political party.

My sister's boyfriend in the 70's was a paid full-time activist. He was paid to attend whatever rally his organization was involved in regardless of the viewpoint. He would show-up, pick up a sign and a slogan sheet and march and chant until told to go home.

I wish college students would protest the status quo on campus. The protests tend to protect the college status quo instead of protesting it.
