I tend to read the headlines off of Yahoo News. I rarely cross check sources or confirm from another source. It has to be very important to me, then I will.

There is no such animal as unbiased news reporting.  I don't care who watches what or which way their opinion leans, unbiased news reporting is a myth.

Many moons ago I posted a link here on the forum to online news papers all over the world.......100's of papers.
Unfortunately I do not have that link on this laptop and do not know how to search for old posts.

Amy wrote: Do you stick with one source or do you have a variety of sources?I actually go to a variety of sites..sometimes to get different views, sometimes to just get different news.

Do you think your source is biased in their reporting?
I think they can be...I mean our local paper is called the Democrat & Chronicle

Do you think other sources are biased in their reporting?
Maybe.

Do you tend to watch sources that agree with your perception?
Not always.  I mean I have my own views, but am not so narrow that I am not willing to listen to what others have to say.  For gawd sake..if that were the case, I probably would not be here, where I am in a political minority.:D

Do you watch/read other sources to get another point of view?
I think my above answer responds to this question.

Do you believe everything that's reported on by your source?
Not always....but if I have read or heard it from more than one source, I am more apt to believe it.

Do you question certain stories and try to verify with independant sources before believing?
Always.  Especially if the news may affect my own point of view one way or another.

Oh, I posted and realized I never indicated how I voted in the poll. I voted for most of the alphabet networks, except FOX.  ABC, CBS, NBC and CNN.  I used to watch MSNBC,  up until 9/11.  That was when I switched to CNN as I preferred how they were covering the events.

I read the local paper only for local news coverage.  Do not much care for it in handling national news.

I watch Fox and CNN.

In terms of newspapers, I read (online) The New York Times and The Washington Post.  Depending on how adventurous I feel (and how much French I remember that day), I also go into Le Monde.

Do you stick with one source or do you have a variety of sources? I have about a dozen internet sites that I read on a regular basis.  I also watch CNN, MSNBC & Fox.

Do you think your source is biased in their reporting?  There is no such thing as unbiased reporting, we all have our opinions and reporters are human too.

Do you think other sources are biased in their reporting? see above

Do you tend to watch sources that agree with your perception? No, I think it is important to get all sides of an issue.

Do you watch/read other sources to get another point of view? see above

Do you believe everything that's reported on by your source? I take everything with a grain of salt unless I can prove it.

Do you question certain stories and try to verify with independant sources before believing? see above

Looking back, I think I want to clarify some of this a little bit, since my first answer was kind of terse.

There's bias in all reporting.  The only question is whether or not the source (newspaper, TV station, whatever...) admits their bias or not.  Most don't.

Let's take the two most prominent TV examples: CNN and FOX.

The closest CNN ever comes to talking about media bias is by identifying themselves as "the so-called 'liberal media'".  Absolutely no admission of bias there.  In fact, there's no admission that anyone is biased in the media.

Fox, for their part, in their slogan, "Fair and Balanced", acknowledges bias, but of course, it's the rest of the media that's biased.

So no one is really honest about their agendas -- other than (maybe) the commentators who tell you their political leanings up front.
