I find this fund very interesting in its structure and origin.  It was created to do well in all environments, and it is sort of a catastrophe-proof or fail-safe fund.  It has fixed percentage of assets in gold, silver, Swiss franc assets, stocks of real estate and natural resource companies, aggressive growth stocks and dollar assets such as US Treasury bill.  I believe it always keeps 25% of its holdings in precious metals.

If you go to morningstar and check out the track record of PRPFX, it has a really great return for the risk being taken.  For a very conservative fund, it delivers superb returns and the extra insurance of doing OK in really bad times.

Here is an interesting article on it, with a tale of its founding:

I think this fund is a really strong candidate as part of a core holding in a long-term portfolio.
