I always respond to these questions by first asking for key info: time frame, purpose/importance of money, risk tolerance, goal (income, appreciation, etc.), tax situation or vehicle, etc. In other words, way too little info to answer you. :) Put $2500 for what purpose and for how long?

If you want to play the craps table, going long on oil right now might give you a nice payoff.

Anything with a term and a fixed rate is death.  This includes most bonds and CDs.  Any long bets on the strength of the dollar will end in misery.  As far as stocks, bets on the upcoming electric car market will be winners.  Bets on the hydrogen economy will be losers and that technology is a dead end.  Likewise the ethanol industry is a lie and a fraud and doesn't exist without massive government support.

That's how I'm investing right now.
