It was exactly one week ago this afternoon that Carol pulled the plug, and the ship sank like a stone before half the passengers even woke up.

Seems longer ago than that, doesn't it?

I felt pretty morose in the lifeboat. But Frank's "island" here is turning out to be better than the OF, don't you think? Most of the survivors made it, and they're even smoe cool natives around, like Pussycat, lady cop and Saint (although they've been NO help to me  tracking down 3CN proof DCAMs).

And did you see the way FF squashed that 7 alt like a bug this morning? He unmasked Otis for the woosie paper tiger he always was. ::gohell::;)

So pthffffft Open Forum. Who needs you? ::toast::

Why does the Sports Talk Forum exist over there? It's the only remaining forum that contributes zero to the collecting community.

I'm liking the way this forum is set up more and more. I like the separation of the forums, I like the diversity of areas of interest.  And I like the way Frank has been using his discretion and authority towards the goal of building a better community.

It does seem longer than a week.  I really believe PCGS made a huge mistake by shutting down the Open Pit.  And at the same time, I think Frank's forum turned out to be a huge winner in the aftermath.

Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. -Matthew 22:37-39

I enjoy Franks place better.  I also like Dougs site, but most didnt.  PCGS can bite me and I certainly dont miss the OF one bit.  I like that the political threads have their own place.  I also like that some of the nastier posters are either not here or were banned.

Yeah, I think it was a mistake because the traffic on that site (specifically the US Coin Forum) is definitely not what it was.  Frankly the US Coin Forum is sucking more each day.  How many more threads about Morgan Dollars, Gold Buffs and the SAE Sets can one take?

They lost some good, thoughtful and original posters who were there not only for the OF but for the other forums as well.  Serves 'em right.

And BTW- I think she who will remain nameless had a LOT to do with it.

Ha Ha!!!!  :rotfl:  Good one...!!

You do have to admit that board is a bit lackluster. Or maybe I'm just noticing that now that there's no alternative on that site....:dunno:

Well, coming from the stirred up bee's nest it was during the MOC week--yes, it seems a little tepid at the moment.

Did it lose some of it's sparkle for the long run? I don't know. But, it's a legitmate question.

And BTW- I think she who will remain nameless had a LOT to do with it.
I recall that she who will remain nameless made a specific threat (in Anaconda's thread about viewing coins while high, about a week prior to meltdown) to get the OF shut down because she had the powere, etc etc, to do it.  She loves her power, and apparently she succeeded in convincing PCGS that their business model would fare better without it.  I can't believe PCGS was so short-sighted to  bow down to one (or  more) people who had a personal agenda.  Anyway, I agree, you reap what you sow and it serves 'em right.  Even if they decide to bring it back, it'll never be the same; their once market-leading website has taken an irreversable hit.  They failed to understand that the OF was an excellent tool to grease their money-making business line.  And that person who shall remain nameless, by showing her true colors, will lose a lot too.  I, for one, used to have respect and even sympathy for her, and now I cannot justify giving her any of my business ever in the future, unless I see a distinct change of heart and personality in her.  Her selfishness and greed have spoken loud, far and wide.

Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. -Matthew 22:37-39

:iagree:
:ditto:
:exactly:This place is turning out to be better than the old OF by a long shot.

So, anybody want to turn the Hobbies & Collectibles place here into a real coin forum???
