We had our 2nd thunder boomer pass through here tonight.  They always set off fires in the surrounding hills.  Every year, this area is set a blaze by lighting.  Here's our first this year that we can see......... Lot's of times you can watch the helicopters and planes dumping water and the orange fire retardant.  One year, they took huge buckets of water from the river.  I'm not sure why my camera kept blurring on me.  I've never had that happen before.  My sheriff neighbor was telling me the fires are all over right tonight.  Sometimes at night you can see an orange glow in the hills all night long.........











I just went out and took this one.  There are houses up in that area, so they are trying to get this one under control.  Sometimes, they just let them burn.........

Foxie are you in California??

Half of the State is burning. The fire season has just started here. Alerts are already at there highest level 5. It is going to be a long hot and dangerous summer here in California.

Yes, Yes, and No!  Some of them I zoomed in on.  It was about 8 miles maybe, from my house.  It would have to cross the highway, the river, and town before it got to me.  If one starts up behind me though, it wouldn't be good!   :runscared:

Thats a scary thought. It would be neat to sit outside at night and watch the fires, as long as it was safe.

Count on a BUNCH more wildfires come Saturday/Sunday, and hopefully some IDIOTS sitting in jail on arson charges.

Around here, the local dumbchits tend to play with explosives.

Every year, someone blows a BIGGER hole in the ground someplace out in the woods.

Last year it was half a case of dynamite in an abandoned well 1/4 mile from houses.

It blew a crater 350 feet deep (nearly the depth of the well) and 400 feet wide.

The roar was heard for 25 miles in all directions and triggered the National Sesmic sensors in NM and Texas, among many closer ones.

State SBI is still investigating to see who did it.

one 750 pound rock the size of two four-drawer filing cabinets came down ONTO a huge oak tree 600 yards away and shattered the whole 120 foot oak tree into pieces scattered around; the remaining stump was only a foot high or so.

THAT"s some fireworks, baby!

I hear you both about the 4th!  Right now this area has an Extreme Fire Hazard warning because of a big thunder storm about to hit the area.  It's so dry here.......this storm is suppose to bring with it a lot of rain, and that may just save us over the 4th!  I always worry about the dry hill up behind me with the fireworks!  There's always some nut or child who doesn't know a simple firecracker can start a huge fire............

Stamp out SIMPLE firecrackers.   Wot I did wif mine wuz dip em in model airplane glue and then roll em in a shot glass fulla BBs.

Then I'd toss em in the garbage can an it'd put dents all over it.  From the INSIDE!

I've often wondered if my mom BELIEVED me when I sed I dint KNOW how those dents got there.    She must have.   I wuz such a cute an loveable kid.

I'll tellya ONE thing.   They sure discouraged the OTHER kids from attacking our FORT!
