I just think that the majority of people stand to gain overall from interacting with most of the people they are around, and I also think that some people (myself included) don't do that as much as we could, and we end up not gaining as much as we might otherwise have. I'm not supporting the Masons here just by my saying this, but that social networking IS a benefit of belonging to an organization like that--- the same is true of the Lions Club, the Rotary, your church, a pool playing club, a mountain biking club, whatever. I don't get the need for the secrecy either, but I don't see the harm in it either, at least not in the big picture way. I'm far more worried about the militias and anti-government organizations that are stacking up weapons and ammunition, and shooting outsiders that approach their land, and crap like that. THOSE people are dangerous, with their bunker mentality.

I read ALOT of news,,, ALOT... worry about the street gangs,,, who kill dozens of innocent people daily just to get in or improve their standing in the crew they run with... its a plague you dont hear much about,,, but you will...
