I know I am.

I just got a letter in the mail "from" my State Farm agent.
It's asking me to consider putting my car insurance with them.

Fair enough.
I don't mind getting such a letter, explaining some of the basics of how it might save me money.

What I do mind is that the letter is written to me (not "resident"), and it's "from" my agent, yet it's postmarked from Chicago, or wherever State Farm headquarters is.

It has no personal signature, nothing.

But this is "personal service" from my special  local State Farm agent, who is a "neighbor" of mine (I have no earthly idea where she lives, could be 50 miles from here for all I know).
I forget the wording, but the opening sentence makes some statement about wanting to reach out to me personally and ask about whether she could do anything for me with insurance, and some such.

While I don't expect a completely handwritten letter, full of personal details and asking after my kids and how life is, it would be NICE if the letter was at least SIGNED in ink by my agent herself and mailed from my local State Farm office.

As it is, it's _completely_ clear that my agent probably has NO idea the letter has even been sent, what's in it, or anything else.

It's about as personal as a Mafia whack job.

Yet this is what Corporate America  would like for us citizens to believe is "personal service"

I'm offended.

I realise the 1950s are gone, and that my agent doesn't live two blocks over, and doesn't make the rounds of the neighborhood on a summer evening, enjoying a glass of tea on my front porch as Beaver and his boy play in the yard and we discuss insurance person-to-person.

But if you're going to call it "personal" --- is it too much to ask that my agent have to DO something herself, like at least sign it?

Armed with the power of Thy name nothing can ever hurt me, and with Thy love in my heart all the world's afflictions can in no wise alarm me.

You're right, not really a personal touch at all!

Well, just to fix them you could always make them sorry they did that to you. By going & checking out another insurance company's rates. Like AIG!!! I switched to AIG going on about 20 years now. Before I did, I never heard of them, so I checked with the BBB to see if any complaints agaist them & there were none. So I changed over to AIG from GEICO, who at that time was the cheapest company around for my insurance needs. And am I sure glad I did, as AIG was around $340 cheaper  then GEICO back then, & even more now!!! Now, AIG TV ads bombard the airwaves daily!

Side note: I'm not affiliated with AIG, in any way, shape, or form. I'm just passing on some friendly info to "anyone" who may be intrested in saving some bucks!
