This one is tracking to be one that'll hit Western NC.

Not as even a TS, but when hurricanes hit the Alabama/west Florida, they tend to head inland and end up soaking the end ot the Appalachians, including northern GA, Western NC, and sometimes East TN.

This is how, four-five years ago, we got two hurricanes in a row, two weeks apart, and ended up with 150 year flood levels, 35 feet of water in Biltmore and all along the French Broad.

Didn't hurt me because I live on a ridge, but what -did- happen was that we got taggeed HARD by the 60-70 mph winds which dropped trees everywhere.

We are prepping for a cat 1-2 hurricane here. I'll keep my eyes on it and decide by tomorrow night if we need to bunker up and mount the shutters.

Florida in state of emergency, Fay could hit Keys Monday
Tropical Storm Fay's exact path and intensity are still uncertain, but forecasters on Saturday said they believe the storm could grow to a Category 1 hurricane before reaching the Florida Keys on Monday.

Ah yes hurricanes, that's one of the main reasons we go North during the anticipated hurricane season. (June through November) So we don't have to contend with the likes of Andrew, Francis, Wilma, etc!

(We'll traveling to the hurrican state early December! Hopefully when season's over)
