I'm afraid this may sound sexist, but should it be of any real concern? I just heard a conversation where someone mentioned that what if elected, the worst happened after McCain took office? And then Palin took over. She already has been "nicknamed" the "Barricuda" for her brand of politics! Now finding herself in charge of a "World-Power", would Palin once a month be more likely a threat to be in a "push-the-button" mode, during that PMS time of the month? (Judging from our oldest Daughter during PMS time, most likely our Daughter would. Thank Goodness she's not running for office::chuckle::) It's true, there are checks and balances in place, to keep things in perspective. However, ultimately the Comander & Chief has the extremely overbearing hand in it all!

(Margaret Thatcher comes to mind as PM in 79, seemed level headed, but she may have been past the PMS age at that time)

Thoughts/ comments?!

Cars........I can't believe you said this!   ::sealed::  First of all there are plenty of others who would be monitoring her every move, I'm sure!  Secondly, how bout dealing with a man when he's horny?  Do you suppose he will be thinking right.....until he calms down?    Might even put everything on hold, until then!  :lmao:  Not only that, I've heard men have a change of life thing, too........  Actually, you do have a point there.  In all fairness, some women could be very dangerous at that time!  I just couldn't let you get away with the comment though.........:bigwink:

I suspected I would be getting battered for this from the toughies in here fox, and as it turns out, you're the first one!! ::nsmile::

I realize "men" can be hormonal as well, but you can't always set your calendar to it!

Actually, for the short time Sarah has been in the "spotlight" and the way she handled herself, I'm favoriably inclined to like her!!! There's still time before that big Tuesday, for her to "shine" more, or if it turns out less. I suspect it will be more!  :)

Actually Cars, Palin got the name "Barracuda" while she played high school basketball. As for the PMS thing.....I'm pretty sure it won't affect any decision making since she'll be surrounded by plenty of advisors.

Well, here's an opinion that won't be popular among the women.  I don't think a woman in the White House is a good idea.  Women react mostly out of emotion and you can't press a magic button and make that all go away.

Woman are also spiteful and vengeful in most cases of women I have met.  Not a good type of person to run the super-power of the world.  I don't think it would be possible for a woman to act against what she is hard-wired to be.  The major emotional differences between men and women make men better to do the job than women.

Whatever shit I catch for saying this; so be it.  That's my opinion and I'm stickin' to it.

Not going to give you any shit UTR. But I do have a question for you.

A while back, there was a post about women in combat. I personally feel that they shouldn't be there, mainly because of the reasons you stated about a women being president. So, basically, I'm all for a woman being president ( not Hillary) but i'm not for women being in combat. And, you're for a women being in combat but not for a woman being president.

The reason I feel that a woman could be president is that she has a whole administration behind her to help her with the tough decisions, whereas women in combat would be in do or die situations, having to be prepared at a split seconds notice of the actions she would have to take without much help from anyone in a totally caotic situation.

Just wondering what your opinion on this would be, not trying to be confrontational.

I do hear what you're saying Cars............I had a RAGING case of PMS myself a few days last week and could have happily taken out someone I work with and walked away with a smile on my face. Seriously though, there is plenty of medication out there right over the counter to help with the symptoms of PMS. And, a lot of women don't suffer from it at all.

Not at all; it's a valid point.  As you say yourself, combat situations require instantaneous reactions which soldiers are trained for.  Men and women in the military are trained the same way, regardless of their sex.  If they can't cut it, they don't get in.  It's a whole different game than being the President.  Being President, yes, they have advisors and such, but you still can't remove or change the hard-wiring that comes with being a woman.  Rarely is a President required to make an instant decision which could end or save their life.  Big difference, in my opinion.  The people have a voice in who runs the country.  We don't have a voice in who protects our country.  We only have the choices of those who choose to serve.

All good points there UTR. Thanks for the reply.

Actually, the first thing I thought of when I read this post was something I saw on AOL yesturday. Check this out.........nothing to do with being president or being in combat, but this woman was absolutely hysterical. This happened at the RNC.

Agree some women don't suffer much from PMS at all! Hope Palin is one of them! And I also realize that "men" can act hormonal as well, and can be SOB's for days on end! This whole PMS discusion could turn out be a mute point, if Barack gets in! Then it would be, the "testirone mode"!

Wow...so women are some rampaging mess of out-of-control hormones who can't be trusted to be smart, mature, self-aware, or intelligent enough to control themselves. It's a wonder we're all still around. After all, there are women in positions of power in all kinds of positions that would be able to effect such an outcome. There are women in control of huge corporations that don't go belly-up once a month. There are women who have access to explosives, weapons, secrets, and they don't go on hormonal rampages every month. There are even - GASP - female Secret Service agents, and they don't take out their weapons and blow away their charges on a monthly basis. Just for a couple of examples.

Really...because men never go nuts and oh, say, blow up a Federal building and kill 168 people. Men never go on shooting rampages in malls, in college campuses, in high school cafeterias. Yeah, really, you guys never should have let us have the vote, go to work, drive cars. Sure. Might as well put us all in burkhas and chain us to the stove, right?

Honestly, the amount of sexist BULLSHIT on this thread astonishes me, and some of the people perpetuating it really ought to know better. Get your heads out of your asses, people, and into the twenty-first century.

:think:hmmm....so actually wouldn't a woman be safer?  since PMS runs in cycles and precautions could be taken...but with men...there's no notice...they just flip out on a whim.  ::rotfl::

Sexist even when the opinion comes from another woman?  Instead of taking just what women "should be allowed" and nutshelling it like that, consider the differences between male and female reactions to ANYthing.  Running a corporation or being in the Secret Service is NOT the same as holding the office of President of the United States, no matter how you whitewash it.
