In 9 years he made 2.9 MILLION dollars...He contributed a little more than $3000.00 in that time to charity... He a great giver to those less fortunate...as long as it's YOUR money he's giving. Now he wants to TAKE more taxes, so you can be patriotic.. Biden is the 3rd highest rated liberal in the Senate.....Who's number 1? Obama.

And whats wrong with being liberal ? LOL...who said there was anything wrong? Everytime they get called LIBERAL, they get their panties in a wad... In the US it's been proven time and time again, that the American public as a whole, don't like the liberals....That is why they move to the center to get elected...not MY info...just a fact...It's evidenced in all of the Democrats that ran during the campaign.... The jist of the story is about the chartitable donations....again..he wants YOU to give more, but he doesn't feel he should....Pretty damn sad....And up until the last two years when Obama started getting groomed to run for president, he was giving less than 1% too...Again.....he's wants to run free with YOUR money, but pretty damn tight when the charity is out of HIS pocket. I must have totally misunderstood your post then 'cuz I could have sworn that the last sentence in your very first post was filled with innuendo...I am liberal & to me that defines being open minded and tolerant of others, I have a general compassion for people and I favor reform and progress...Why would you feel that Mr. Biden's finances and what he contributes to charities are any of your business ?...Is it because you don't like the way your tax dollars are spent ?...No one is ever happy concerning that, ever....Its been my experience that the more money one has the less likely they are to give it away & I say that knowing a little about charities & contributions.

I think being open minded, tolerant, compassionate and progressive are good things. But I don't like the way Congress is being "liberal" with my money. With rare exception I don't believe the federal government should be involved in charity. I don't find any mandate in the Constitution that grants them that power. The primary focus of the federal government, which should be reflected in their budget, is national defense, border security, international treaties and oversight of interstate commmerce. There should also be some federal oversight of regulations with respect to States and protecting the Constitutional rights of individuals within those States. Fundamentally we don't have a "right" to education, healthcare, housing, food, retirement at age 65, etc., etc., especially as it relates to the powers of federal government. Charity is not charity when it is mandated by Congress via the threat of fines and prison time.

Great, I'm glad to see that you are for ending the tax break we give to religious organizations and faith-based programs since you also don't see any mandate in the Constitution that grants them that power, either.

I am liberal & to me that defines being open minded and tolerant of others Those are certainly good traits, I also have those traits...They are not the sole possession of the Liberal left, as they would have you to believe. Why would you feel that Mr. Biden's finances and what he contributes to charities are any of your business It's NOT my business...I actualy never said it was...What I was TRYING to get across is the fact that he wants YOU and I to pay more in taxes ( to be more patriotic as he calls it)..to help those of us that need it....In the mean time, when he HAS the opportunity to do exactly as he is preaching, he skimps become a tightwad and keeps his money...He is real charitable when it comes to our money, not so much when it's HIS money...clearer now?

Hell yes, I'm for all churches, temples, AND ANY religion paying taxes......They use the pulpit as a voice to back their political beliefs anyway, this way, they can do it leaglly...In the mean time, a load of them will fold up and go away...

"Great, I'm glad to see that you are for ending the tax break we give to religious organizations and faith-based programs since you also don't see any mandate in the Constitution that grants them that power, either." Get rid of the federal income tax, social security tax, medicare/medicaid tax and there would be a need for tax breaks to religious organizations.

Well, two wrongs don't make a right. Let's be moral and principled here - we are talking about charities, which the religious stuff basically is. I am glad you are for getting rid of those tax breaks for the faith-based programs and churches. That was good to hear and to see your reason why (you don't see a mandate for them). Now, as for the other things. First things first. First let's get rid of the charity challenge you felt strongly about a few posts ago.

"Now, as for the other things. First things first." Let's not put the cart before the horse. Those religious groups were involved in education, healthcare, welfare, etc., etc. long before the federal government was collecting income taxes, social security taxes, medicare/medicaid taxes, etc.. The tax exemptions were in recognition of the helpful work those religious groups were doing. You're got it backwards. Let me share a basic principle with you. The federal government can only give back what it has first taken. My argument is they had no right to take it in the first place.
