The investigating officer remarked in the criminal complaint that the odor was very strong.  I'm going to go against the grain here. It seems obvious, after reading the criminal complaint, that this was not an errant fart, but was quite intentional on the perp's part. He was doing everything he could to be obnoxious and uncooperative. I think the charges are justified. He was trying to be a douche, and they called him on it. Good for the cops.

He just barfs === BUT, he makes NO attempt to aim away from anyone, bend over -- in fact, it's obviously not too easy for him to stay standing up, but he does it....( he later told us he tried to stay standing up SO THAT he'd hit more of the cop) but he did NOT say anything like that to the cop. Should he have been charged UTR? You friggin' nit pickers kill me. You're just fine with the laws slowly yet absolutely chipping away, bit by bit at our privacy and rights and what the government thinks it should have its damn nose in. I am NOT saying that I don't think this idiot did this on purpose, as some of you seem to think; of course he did. I know there are members here who wear blinkers, but it is time to shed them and see further along in the game. Determining what we can and can't do; determining what ways the system can suck us in all starts out with things just exactly like this. There was a ban on those stupid baggy pants that hang down below your ass recently. I'd have to look up the story but it happened right here in AMERICA. So now the government wants to tell us how we can wear our clothes too, even as revolting as that fashion statement is? (Which, by the way, got its start in prison. How funny is that?) If you people would just try to use a little forethought as to what you're condoning....Sheesh..... Think people.....THINK. I know for some of you it is painful, but you'll be better off. What I think is different about this case is that he sounds pretty deliberate in what he did. And I don't have a lot of sympathy for the "What if it happens to you?" argument. And what right do YOU have to go around being angry at everyone that doesn't treat you like they did Mother Teresa when you don't ACT like her? I didn't see any upstanding high-grades star atheletes, members of the honor societies going around dressed in baggies, with a "talk to me and I'll beat your ass" attitude on their face. You project an attitude and dress style of "I want to succeed" and teachers will help you do that. You project an attitude and dress style of "I hate everyone around me, and the first person that pisses me off even slightly is gonna get popped", and people are going to ignore you and leave you just the way you apparently want to be. The guy who projects the angry attitude, wearing the clothes that aren't dressed for success does NOT get to make the rules about how society views that. Sorry.
