Eric, I like the 23, but the 22 really does the trick. Without getting into an AT/NT discussion can somebody tell me why Peace bucks generally tone up in a more even and dark pattern than Morgans? As I understand it the planchet preparation was different between the two series, but that's really all I know.

Yeah, too bad I only have four. You've seen two of the four!

That's a great 35-S. It has the halo around the eagle on the reverse which means it is an original coin. Dipping strips the flow lines and obliterates the halo.

Yes, you got it, the difference was in the planchet preparation, namely the rinsing of the planchets. You will also see some bright white Peace dollars with spotting, another problem resulting from the poor rinsing process. Having struck over 100 million coins between 1922-1925 the mint was not really concerned about coin quality.

The 1922 came out of a Whitman album.
