I understand the value it has for some...but personally, i'm not gonna block any forums...as I may miss something of interest, and I'd like to trust myself enough to stay out of getting embroiled in fruitless discussions.

Good for you, Amy!  I'm thinking the same way.  I think I'll mostly do the filtering in my own brain instead of the computer's. 

You never know when a forum you might not frequent much might have a blazing hot topic that you feel strongly about!

Great idea, though Frank. I might have to block a forum if I'm online at school and something politically sensitive is on screen.

This was a very long-term focused modification.  For example, it allows us to take on a forum that can generate a lot of topics of stuff 99% of us would not want to have our Recent Posts results filled with.  Let's say Company X wants to have a forum here for their boring client questions, and other forum sprouts up about politics in Iceland.  You might not want half your visible Recents threads about those two things.  You might want to go check out those forums individually from the homepage perhaps.  Or, let's say I get a small existing forum site about clocks to have a forum here as an alternative and they bring 40 very prolific Members, generating a new clock topic every 20 minutes, filling your Recent Posts results.

It generally relieves the need to worry so much about the quantity of a current forum's posts, too - and the type.  That is part of what I meant by "freedom."

Someone "annoying" with "annoying Members" can even have their own forum and Members can only cry about it so much.
