I see a lot of people misusing or not using the quote features, so I think they should read this.

Using the Quote button at posts:

You use that button next to the post you want to quote - it captures their entire post and labels it as theirs, setting up a reply post for you to add to.

Are you someone who quotes another then winds up typing within their quote box so it all looks confusing as to who is saying what?  I notice they make the posts confusing by typing WITHIN the box they quote.  You should put your cursor under the box, at the very bottom, so you type outside the box separating what is yours entirely from their text.

Using the Quote Selection button while making a Post or PM:

You can quote parts of people's comments piecemeal to separate each part and keep it clear.  Are you someone who is using the Quote button next to posts, which captures the entire post in a quote for you? Do you wish you could just quote part of the material so that your post isn't gigantic or so that you could address each point individually in a clean way?  I want to make sure you know how to use the Quote Selection button that appears for you when you go to create a post or PM.

It is this button, circled in red:

It automatically wraps the what you selected in a quote box.

It looks like this:   and it is located on the right side, of the top row of buttons.

It creates this if you highlight the text and click it:

It automatically wraps the what you selected in a quote box just like this one.

Copy and paste the desired text into your comment box (I happen to use CNTRL-C to copy and CNTRL-V to paste).  Simply by highlighting it with a drag of the cursor, and clicking the Quote Selection button.

Wendy,  sorry - I should have provided a pic.  You named buttons that are at each post in a thread, I am talking about the two rows of buttons that appear while already composing a PM or post.  I circled the Quote Selection button for you below:

:)

* I added this pic into the first post

You have to first highlight the text you have in your message box, then click it. A box would immediately appear around the highlighted objects or text.
