Hi.  :)

I see a lot of people put youtube videos in their posts.   They often post the link, like this:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C4qyyl2rkJc

But if they wanted to show the video in the post like this:

They could do it by modifying the code (explained below) and pasting it into the pop-up box when they press one of the media buttons:

I've done it with the flash and realplayer buttons, so I know those work.

CODE MODIFICATION:

I learned that one must change the code first before pasting it.   You have to take the "watch?" part out before the "v," and the "=" part out after the "v" - then add slashes around the "v."

Starts like this:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C4qyyl2rkJc

Ends like this:

http://www.youtube.com/v/C4qyyl2rkJc

There may be an easier way but I haven't played around with youtube videos and the media buttons much.  I will update this as I discover new info.

My computer just tells me I need a plug-in. Sorry, I don't know anything about these plug-ins. :(

Construct, does it offer you a chance to load it?  Even if not, note the exact name of the plug in and do a google search to find a place that will let you download it.  Add the word "download" to your search...

So I went and downloaded Realplayer for OS X and installed it. Now this thread allows me to see what look like controls on a couple of the posts, but it is giving me a "General Error" pop-up message that has a lot of code in it that I don't understand.

Can you copy and paste the code here by chance?

Sorry to have made you write that by hand! To narrow the problem down, you should see if you can play any video from the youtube site.

One thing I have noticed is if you posted the video on youtube yourself. Youtube gives you the option of making the video public or private. If you link a private video , the person clicking on the link has to be logged on to youtube to view it.
