I heard No Country For Old Men was very good. But no, I am not watching the Oscars, stopped years ago. For some reason they started really annoying me as I got older.

The fact that Ratatouille won over The Simpsons invalidates the whole thing, in my eyes.

:lmao:You guys are crazy!  I like watching them prance, and strut down the red carpet acting like they don't care if anyone sees them.  While all the while, they're looking all over to see just WHO is seeing them!!  The clothes are fun.  Once they get inside and start the show, I'm on to other things.  I know lots of people really get into the Oscars, and really enjoy them!  My sister in law is one.  She's got her phone off the hook right now!!  ::chuckle::

I paid attention long enough to see if my homeboy , Phillip Seymor Hoffman, won supporting actor (he is from Rochester, his mom is a family court judge here).  Then I got bored and read a book.

Here is a question.  Would you see a movie, or watch an actor's performance because it won an award?  Even if it was a movie you would normally not watch?  My answer is no.  If it is a movie I would not have wanted to see before the award, my mind would not be changed after it won.  For me, I happen to like Philip Seymor Hoffman...but not all of his films appeal to me, so I would just watch those I think I'd like.

I try to watch all of the movies that get nominated for Best Picture. I figure that there are enough people that vote for these things that there's a pretty good cross-section of opinion, so those movies stand a chance of being pretty good.

I like looking at MSN's "Undressed!" feature a few days after these big awards ceremonies. The columnist who writes these has the most hysterical skewering sense of humor you've ever read. It's a column specifically about the clothes.  Fun-fun-PHUNEEE. Go to the Entertainment section of the MSN page and look for links to Undressed. Fan-freakin-tastic.

Speaking of the clothes...WTF was Julie Christie SMOKING when she got dressed?  Dayum.  Yikes.
