****I give it 4 out of 5 stars why because I hated the ending. Granted it is a Cohen brothers movie and that is its charm. It is so violent from the first scene to the last but the preformance are excellent and you will be scratching your head at the ending.
 Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, martini in the other, body thoroughly used up worn out screaming what a ride.. |

I agree!  Very good movie....yeah, but....it's disturbing...yeah, but it's a very good movie...yeah, but... I've seen several of those lately it seems.

you will be scratching your head at the ending. And, 2 weeks after seeing it, I am STILL scratching my head wondering what the ending was all about. My husband and I just looked at each other at the end and said....huh...............It made no sence at all.

Anyone with an experience of Coen Brothers films will probably scratch their heads. In Coen Brothers films (of which I in the main are a great fan of) explanations are not as important as the journey itself. See Millers Crossing, Barton Fink, Blood Simple, their earlier works to understand the unique style of the Coen Brothers. It is unique and it often makes no sense, it asks more questions than it answers. That is the nature of the Coen Brothers, the most unique and original creative partnership in Hollywood.

There was a huge build-up with excellent performances...Then came the ending. WHAT @#$%&* ENDING?!!!!! What a blistering waste of my life. I took the movie back and traded it to Hastings the next day I was so pissed off.

watched it this evening... i may well be more jaded than many people...i simply found the movie a complete and total bore.  not even mildly interesting. and i generally like the Coens.

hey LH, don't let me influence you! but after the sopranos ending, this was no big deal. you have to care about the characters to care about the ending that everyone seems so upset about. didn't faze me one bit because i didn't give a rat's rear about the characters or the storyline. that's just my take. not the take of others here.

I thought this movie was excellent, but I agree the Coen brothers neglected to include an ending. What a weird protagonist. And what happened to the money?
