just came out on DVD and is not for everyone! it's essentially a classic English stage production, almost an opera. (i recommend the subtitles to get the real flavor of the lyrics). it's got great gobbets of blood and tongue-in-cheek humor. i loved it, but that's because i have a dark sense of humor.  if you've seen it, i'd love to hear what you thought.

Almost an opera? Like....how "almost" is it? I'm not into musicals, (Mom loved The Sound of Music...I shudder at the thought) but you know my sense of humor, so if you like it, it could be something I'd enjoy, too. I'll have to see if my video store has it.

i mean it's about 90% singing. but i assure you, it isn't the 'sound of music'.  i think you'd hate it.  one never knows however, you're pretty evil too.

You think I'd hate it? Now I wonder if I want to spend 3 bucks to check it out. Meh; it wouldnt be the first time I wasted 3 bucks or two hours of my life! Maybe over a weekend when I am going apeshit not having anything to do.

Finally watched it last night... I actually enjoyed it. I thought it was very well done.Yes, it's a musical...but a very demented and warped one.  Although some of the music is quite pretty...it's mostly of an angry/eerie variety. I was actually rather impressed with Johnny Depps' voice. Who knew? Although the story starts out with Depps character simply wanting revenge...along the way, he completely snaps, and everyone is fair game.  There were several parts where I was cringing from all the blood....and all the bodies crashing on the floor were quite realistic!
