Nobody knew that one, eh?  Ok, Sidney Freidman stripped and tossed his clothes in the bonfire.  The song being played was Keep the Homefires Burning.

In 1998 some articles from the show were auctioned off.  Radar's famous teddy bear was one of the items and it brought $11,900.  The sign in the middle of the camp with the arrows pointing in the direction of everyone's hometowns sits in The Smithsonian to this day.

Well, it hadda be sometime in the first four seasons, because the exchange went something like this:

Burns: How dare you wear that hat while in uniform, soldier?
Klinger: It's spring, sir.

But I'm darned if I can remember which episode. Maybe the one where Burns gets the news that he's not going to keep command of the 4077 after Blake left?

My DVD library contains the pilot episode, which is playing as I type.  Wayne Rogers played Trapper in the pilot and in seventy-one more episodes from 1972 - 1975.

Ok, here's a stumper.

How did they come up with the nickname "Ferret-face" for Frank?

Oooh.  Good one.  I thought it had just popped out of BJ's mouth when he was assigned to the 4077th and he and Hawkeye showed up drunk.  I didn't know there was a story behind it. I could cheat and ask Wolf, but he isn't around this weekend.

Damn.....I should know this one......

A)  I would still like the answer to the trivia question, Erinna!  ::wait::

B)  The original movie starring Donald Sutherland and Elliott Gould is on right now on AMC.  :woohoo:

B) I know, I'm watching it.

A) Frank Burns the character was a doofus, but the actor Larry Linville was apparently quite well-liked by the rest of the cast and crew. One day, his (Linville's) brother was on the set. At some point during a conversation with Alan Alda, the brother revealed that his childhood nickname for Larry was "ferret-face." Thus an adlib was born; the line wasn't scripted.

Ah ha.  I learn something new every day!

Hard to believe Burns could be played so well by Larry Linville and Robert Duvall, eh?

One of the characters from the first season was Spearchucker Jones.  He was a black man and I was rather surprised last night to see an episode with this character in it.  He was only in 6 episodes, and I thought that because these days the term "spearchucker" is considered derogatory that those episodes wouldn't be aired anymore.  All the PC whackjobs out there - I'd have thought - would be screaming for those episodes to be pulled from public view.  I guess they haven't been!  It's nice to know the censors haven't been able to touch every damn thing!  ::thumbs::

I think one of the funniest lines from this show was......

I've always heard; behind every great man, there's a woman with a vibrator.  :lmao:

:lmao:  If you haven't seen that episode, you wouldn't get it.  I just saw it which made me think to post it.  :lmao:
