Matthew McConaughey's brother aims for 'Gold' with new TV show
By INAE OH
DAILY NEWS STAFF WRITER

Matthew McConaughey's brother, Rooster, is headed for the small screen.

Rooster McConaughey will be giving his famous brother Matthew a run for his money as one of the stars of the new reality show, "Black Gold."

Hollywood favorite Matthew will join viewers as they watch Rooster (nee: Michael Patrick) take us into the dangerous lives of Texas oil workers. The show, which premieres on June 18 on truTV, is produced by the same folks as "Deadliest Catch" and "Ice Road Truckers."

Rooster's venture into show business, however, is a far cry from glamorous Hollywood. Although Rooster doesn't work directly on the oil rigs, his company Chapter 11 Pipe provides the pipes needed to get the dangerous job done.

But this isn't his first shot at fame. Rooster, who named his son Miller Lyte after his favorite beer, made a brief appearance in Matthew's 1998 film, "The Newton Boys."
