This is the current Robin in the Batman comic book universe Tim Drake.

They have got the balance just right here I think.

Originally Tim Burton was slated to direct the third Batman film, he wanted to introduce Robin as either a criminal or a car mechanic, Marlon Wayons was signed up to play the part but Chris O'Donnell got it instead unfortunately.

I think the original origin of Robin being a member of a family of circus trapeze artists just isn't going to work in the current grittier franchise.
