If Adam & Eve were the first two people, then they, along with their kids, were the first people/family.  How did they procreate after that?  Didn't they have to engage in incest?

Can someone explain to me how you can procreate from a single couple (Adam & Eve) without incest?

If I remember correctly, there are a number of stories in the bible of incest that are not exactly "evil" in God's eyes since they were for procreation purposes.

Personally I think incest is ALWAYS wrong whether its for the procreation of inbred freaks to inhabit "gods" earth or not.

I believe the evidence on humans points to incest being "against the grain" or unnatural, and not good for the long-term ... so how can incest be condoned but not the other things that many religious folk say is unnatural and against the grain, causing God to fret, like homosexuality?

Sin's always been part of the plan.  An omniscient God couldn't have it any other way, if He was to give us free will. 

Having said that, I don't think it's reasonable to think that sex itself is sinful, or that God didn't intend Adam and Eve to have sex.  He's the one who said "Be fruitful and multiply".  And I don't think they had cloning in the Neolithic age. :bigwink:

It seems reasonable to me that the writers of the Bible just didn't understand the population issue correctly, or think through the implications of a prohibition against incest from God.  In modern times, we understand things about populations much better than they did back then.  (For one thing, we understand genetics, which they didn't even have a concept of.)
