7, 9 and 10 are to me particularly relevant and have no corresponding basis with any of the original ten commandments.

In fact most of those new commandments would have to be pre-faced by "thou shalt NOT" by most religions.

::wiseman::This is a good example why the world offers 1000s and 1000s of religions so everyone can pick and choose one that they "greatly prefer". It's like going to the grocery store. I personally will stick to the bible and the God of the bible and not seek any new modern flavors or additives.

I too find it silly to have thousands of religions and sects ... goes to show you one doesn't need a club to have a relationship with God.  I would rather live by the principles of freedom and equality than some archaic dogma that houses some universal morals.  I will just take the morals and freedom package indicated in the type of standards the initial post of this topic describes!

I think calling them "commandments" probably sounds too religious - how about suggestions? ::peace::

Not sure, there are so many synonyms for Commandments .. laws, principles, rulings, guidelines, lessons, teachings, codes, instructions, etc.

The New 10 Commandments is catchy though.  ::sgrin::

Those were the ones that jumped out at me too.  Good call.

Me too - they are striking because they are the opposite of what organized religion teaches and has worked to suppress in a variety of ways in the past.  7, 9, and 10 are enlightenment, freedom, independence, and operate on principles not valued in archaic dogma.
