Finally, they put him in a hotbox and turned up the heat. When it reached 125 degrees he said, "Get me the Hell out of here!"

That is what Hell is. It's God's final try to reach sinners. If nothing else will get people to hate evil and renounce the Devil, Hell will. If not, it was still worth the try.

What kind of maniacal excuse was that?  Loving God would punish you with physical burning pain to torture you into seeing things another way?  That's absurd.

You guys really gotta get out of the dark ages and stop pretending like that archaic BS is something besides archaic BS.

The "Loving God" you often reference has made a way for you to not ever have to enter hell and be eternally separated from Him. Have you accepted His free gift of love?

Dear friend,

With all due respect, JBF, your opinion statement is just fine, IMO, but your following 'canned' question, that everyone has heard a million or more times, is quite condescending and seems to lack sincerity in so many ways and that it just demonstrates to others that they aught to stay far away from anything any Christian may say. Genuineness seems to be missing. Suggesting "my way or the hell-low way" may have worked for  the past several hundred years but it just ain't happenin any more.

Surely, you and other co-religionists can see that, can't you? Is there that much lack of creativity or caring that you continue with such presentations?

Just a thought.

It is somewhat condenscending I agree. I also get tired of hearing God described as a "Loving God" while suppressing the best example of His love who is Christ Jesus.

"For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes on Him will not perish but have everlasting life." John 3:16

"For God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners. Christ died for us." Romans 5:8

Jesus said, "Take heed that no one deceives you."

Matthew 24:4

The way God paved for me does not involve organized worship, archaic text, or anything else other people dream up and perpetuate.  I'm sorry that you buy that your particular way, interpretations, views, and feelings are the only valid way to God but that is more about you than it is about me having to accept gifts and such.

God gave me a gift called critical thinking, and reason.  Other people telling me not to use it because I do not subscribe to their particular religious beliefs only reinforces my feelings that their head trip was not meant to be my road trip to God.

I enjoy using that same gift Frank. This is also why I assesed everything I saw in the world for over 30 years and my brain came to the strong conclusion that without a Planner & Designer... it all would be beyond impossible. :)

I am glad you found peace on that level, but your personal and subjective feelings don't in any way mean you know the full truth, nevermind God's details.  Just because you found and adopted a particular organized religion with text, doesn't mean that is the only valid way or that God even requires organized anything.  If that same text was different before you found it, you would be professing different things.  Just like if you were born in a different time and place, into a different religion.

You even go so far as to think God wants you to spread the word of a particular organized religion.  If everyone realized that their subjective personal feelings are only that, we would be a lot better off.

To make things worse, you go around saying Loving God would torture people in Hell for all eternity to teach them a lesson. The reasononing and critical thinking skills you were born with should tell you, in my opinion, that this is absurd. But your emotional needs outweigh that common sense in my view. So when you ask if I've accepted some gift, the previous few posts of mine here are the context in which your question is taken - due to the reasoning and logic God made ME believe and know. So, in my book, it is you that is wrong. I know I could be wrong, but you don't seem to allow for that possibility in yourself with anything I've said. That is the problem with organized religions - they inherently fuel a form of fanaticism and protectionism. That is why the world has been plagued by the obvious negativity attached to them.
