Some of the best "people" I know are mans best friend!!  Is there a place in Heaven for animals?  Do they have spirits?  If you've ever really looked a dog in the eye, you know the answer to that is yes.........  Where do their little spirits go after they're gone?  Does the Bible, or any other religion mention animals after death?

According to this Christian fundamentallist site, no animals don't have souls but then neither do people who haven't been "reborn" or are still "lost". So don't worry there will be plenty of room in heaven for you just don't expect to see any of your beloved pets there or any friends of family who aren't born again Christians.

I'm an Orthodox Christian, I was born right the first time, heh, heh :) .

As for animals having souls of course they do, this has never been a major problem in Eastern Christianity. Who can imagine a heaven without out loving companion friends - satanists perhaps?

I wouldn't be surprised if there are more animal souls in heaven than human, heh, heh, heh.

Saints have different opinions, they are right on some things and wrong on others, no big deal. 2000 years of Church tradition, not to mention a little common sense - says animals (some anyway) have souls - but if you disagree no big deal, heh.

As for the biblical literalists, they make up any fantasy they want that fits their emotional needs because they have only their interpretation of one book to base their entire faith on, and those interpretations often have nothing to do with Christianity :) .

Actually, I believe that animals do NOT have "souls" as we do.

That however, doesn't mean that they won't be in heaven ---

It simply means that they don't have to CHOOSE a path, and suffer hellfire for failing to make the right choice...

I have never seen anything in writing anywhere that says "heaven is composed of nothing except God, angels, and human souls, and absolutely NOTHING else, except golden buildings and streets"

I think heaven is FAR more complicated than the simplistic picture that many religions teach about it---

AND not nearly as 'static' as many religions teach.

That brings me to an interesting point---

Some religions teach that "once we're in heaven, NOTHING changes -- ever--- no growth, no change, no seasons, just "sit there" on a cloud and play a harp for eternity"

In another thread, it's been said that the Bible says that souls can die -- essentially by disobeying God.

But doesn't that mean that a soul is ALWAYS at risk of choosing suddenly to disobey God???
Ergo--- we have free will in this life...

And then WHACK --- in the next life... NO FREE WILL --- no more choices, NOTHING in our hands to decide upon our actions AT ALL... because we MIGHT sin if we did--- even by the slightest -- maybe we had a run-in with that old hated ex-spouse, that boss that we REALLY didn't get along with....

And because we sinned again-- WHACK --- our soul is dead...

Oh wait---- there's going to be this miracle--- and WE are never going to ever ever ever sin again.. because God will see to it.
We'll just LOVE that ex-spouse all of a sudden (and that fact won't bug our last spouse in the slightest) ... we'll just hug up on the old boss that fired us for theft we didn't do and the stress from which made our wife miscarry and lose a baby will be all A-OK...

Because God in His Mercy decided that those people were OK after all --- even though WE wouldn't have let them into heaven, given the choice ourselves...


See???

I think it's all a BIT more complicated than that "all the good people go to heaven and all the bad people roast in teh fire, and God just FIXES it about who I wouldn't let into heaven but He did let in.."
