But if you had to name the FIRST and MOST PRIMARY source of your faith, what would that source be?

God and prayer.

With God and prayer, anything is possible, and has been for the illiterate and those without their Book of choice at hand.

The pilot of the airplane falling to the ground does not say his prayers to the Bible, nor does he rely upon the Bible.

He relies upon the sufficiency and protection of God that he may survive the coming crash.


God and prayer must come first, so as to cause the Bible (or whatever your choice of Book) to affect your soul and guide you to believe in the Book.


Without God and prayer, the Bible (and any other Books of religious writing)  is merely a bundle of papers with ink on them.

I do not believe in God because of the Bible.

Rather, I believe in the Bible because of God.

The Bible does not sway me towards God-

God has the greater power-  He it is who causes me to read His Revelation.

God preceded the Bible, therefore the Bible cannot be more important and be a more primary source for me.

I knew and accepted this before I could read.

Does this mean that the African tribesman who knew of God , yet cannot read the Bible
thusly has either no foundation for his faith, or has a lesser foundation than you do?

Not if you said something like:

"God inspires me through my prayers to understand His Bible"

That would imply that you DO put God first, and trust in Him to understand the Bible ---

-- not the other way around.

I would say that most people don't get to "let Jesus into their heart" when they are born into other faiths that seem as complete and right to them as your faith is to you, know what I mean?  What is the big difference between them and the tribes?
