I'm no fan of creationism, but I think its scientific influence is overblown.  Generally speaking, the scientific areas where creationism would have a negative impact are not the areas that creationists enter into.  The closest they come to that, probably, is in the stem cell debate, and that's not really about creationism, per se. 

We're not going to miss out on a colony on the moon just because some people don't accept the concept of evolution.
