Isaiah 9:6 " So --- If the Second Coming occurs as planned, that is, Jesus comes and sucks the tiny number of His actual "True Followers" up into the sky, leaving lots of bewildered "I thought I was a Christian" people behind, not to mention lots of people who didn't believe in Him.... ... and lowers a physical city called the "New Jerusalem" down to earth ( exact physical site to be announced later, interpretations vary amongst Christians) .. and He is in charge of everything.... How exactly will "the increase of the government be on His Shoulders" and "the increase of his government will have no end" Will He bring a government that dwarfs the Republic in Star Wars? Far far larger than 'millions of civilized worlds" and "hundreds of thousands of Senators"?? What does 'increase in government" mean in this phrase, if we are to take it at it's "most literal" and "simplest" meaning?? While I've been somewhat satirical here-- I am quite serious in attempting to understand how Jesus, Who from all appearances will abolish all human government in favor of direct rulership Himself (purportedly, according to some interpretations) would "increase" the size of a government of ONE Individual???

I'm curious as to how Christians interpret that verse, since they'd automatically disagree with my interpretation.... Seriously -- it _does_ appear to be a dichotomy of literalism in comparison to how Jesus rulership of the world is generally interpreted to be.

Actually I was putting Him more over on the Conservative side of the table --- without the 'promise of small government and fiscal responsibility' part. Since He clearly DID say that He favored taxing enough to operate a "government without (limits of) increase" That sort of thing is going to take money. And people being sub-chiefs and sub-managers and sub-clerical staff. He could mint the money with just a wave of His hand --- but how about the people? Is His government going to be bloated and overpaid??

But wouldn't you also agree that the Bush government was "greater" than the Clinton government in many ways? all except, perhaps.... morality...
