The Acorn Worm is a filter feeder, so I doubt you could say it steals anything from anyone.

Well whatever it does, it does due to its evolution.  ::bshake::

Yes, but not why they do it.  The evidenc you cited points pretty clearly to reproduction being the point of primate rape.  Violence, power, and intimidation are all characteristics of rape.  Any rape would share those qualities.

Right, but the connection is there.  Access to sex is power.  It is also animalistic to rape, in any form.

Here's the point I think you're ignoring, Frank:  For the non-human primates we're discussing, the rape is not about power.  It's about reproduction.  Again, they only rape females in estrus.  They're doing it for reproductive reasons.

A human rapist is doing it purely for reasons of domination and control of the female (even if that domination is only temporary).  That's a huge difference, and it's the basic difference between animal behavior and human behavior.

It's fairly clear that in humans, rape is an aberrant behavior, not conducive to any evolutionary goal, and not tied to the motives of more primitive primates.

I'm not ignoring it.  Access to sex is power.  They are doing it for reproductive reasons but that is still doing it for power.  It is still sexual violence.  Humans do it for a form of power or control as well.  I also didn't ignore it by addressing it - I said that human rape can be TRACED BACK to primate rape, and the similarities are the intimidation, violence, abuse, control, and power primates seek, just like human rapists do.  In other words, despite the differences (not ignoring it again), they are similar enough, or related enough, to see a connection.  This connection is further clarified by how humans overwhelmingly rape females in their peak reproductive years.  I believe that deep down, reproductive reasons are part of the original reasons we rape.  Somewhere in the wiring, remnants of the ancient purpose still exists.  That is why I called it a "throwback" of primate rape.

Violence, power, sex.  They are connected.  It's just another way humans show themselves to be like sophisticated primates.  We are animalistic in our behaviors and the sex for power department is just one of the countless ways.
