JBF, have you ever heard the chorale by that title from "The Creation" by Franz Joseph Haydn?

It has a -really- nice trio solo obbligato part for solo soprano, alto, and baritone

I've sung the baritone part many times

well, I am a musician - spent more than 20 years singing and playing in large Protestant churches where they did the classic Bach, Handel, Brahms, Haydn, Mozart stuff.

My mother was a professional classical musician, and sacred musician, so I grew up involved in that.

Once our children are of age and I've gotten a few more certifications, I'm going back to that again.

This is an EMI Classics youtube clip of the recording session of one of their CDs.
hence the people in "regular" clothes, no audience, and in a big church.
This is what it looks like as a world-renowned multi-hundred year old choir records one of those high end CDs that only us audiophiles listen to!

The Creation is like The Messiah (Handel) -- it's a choral work in many parts.
The chorale "The Heavens are Telling" is at about 2:35 or so on the videio clip.

Personally I find that this rendition is dry and without passion, compared to the other one in which it's in the original German but -much- more passionate and emotional.

I've sung it (baritone, the Angel Gabriel) much more like the first performance, in mainly English, though we took a stab or two at the German verision at choir conventions in Montreat.
